OK so I’m alone at home in my hometown (big city), it’s Friday night, and I’m like “why not solo sarge tonight”. Background info: I never solo sarged here since I got my GF, only in other cities – and I usually only go for NC/flakes. I am careful about not getting entangled with some crap. So out I went, with the fuzzy goal of opening random sets, practicing socializing, comfort challenges etc. First place: rather empty bar, no real targets there. Next venue, pizza shop next to the bar. A cute HB8 with a HB6 sitting alone at the table. I EC a little and catch a smile from her while I wait in queue to order my pizza. Talk to the guy next to me in queue with a C&F remark about his order. These guys are with the girls – dang… Hit a rather posh bar next. Did not get any EC upon entering, so went to the bar to order a beer. Place is half empty, plenty of space. Looked around and saw that bored-out 5F-set, where one of the girls was gamed by some boring guy. The best girl in the set was a HB7. I was thinking about opening the set with a generic question about the venue, which had been rebuilt recently, but AA took over first, or was it their low energy level, or limited attraction as there was no real *hot* babe, hence no motivation, I don’t know. I hit the restrooms and come back and there’s a fun-looking guy who points at me and I’m just pointing back, go straight to him. We get into a funny conversation. Takes about 10min, then I’m tired of that and feel the danger of getting stuck there. So I look over to the bar and there’s this HB8.5 blonde girl. Real cutie, standing alone at the otherwise almost empty bar. Make up some sort of EC. I shut down the guy, I just go over and put my empty beer glass on the bar, turning to her and say: Me: “A real Frankfurter” (=town in Germany) She: (smiling, lighting up, turning towards me): “err.. you?” Me: “No, this guy over there. I was about to leave and he told me everything about mechanical engineering. VERY interesting…” She: *looking sorta puzzled, yet open and interested* Me: *frame just drops, inner game goes up in smoke – goal conflict – what am I supposed to do with this hot chick when NC/KC/time bridge is not an option?* Me: “Well, good night anyway” and left Lessons Learned: - Even the worst openers work (OK no big news there :)) - Define your goals clearly. I simply had no real plan where to go after a successful opener. Fear of spoiling my home turf. - Really get INTO your frame instead of carrying it along, dropping it at the first occasion. I like to stress this last point a little more. There is a huge difference between taking a frame and really being IN a frame. Maybe this is a meditation thing or what, I don’t know. I think this is why alcohol works well for a lot of people – it lets us take the “mating machine” frame with ease. It became real obvious for me in this rather strange environment. My brain went to fallback mode once the heat was on, dropping the frame and running for its life. It was a frightening, yet cool experience – I never had that for like 5 years I think. |

What do you mean dropping it on first occasion, can you give an example in the context of your situation? |
