I was wondering how helpful people found this book about finding inner peace, enlightenment, etc.

I'm around page 40 so far and although the read itself is not difficult, the whole concept of achieving inner peace from simply reading this book seems far fetched.

I'm trying my best to remain receptive to the teachings, but none of it has really sunk in so far, so my question really is, should I continue reading?

Yeah I read it. I am a spiritual person, creative type, musician. Don't get me wrong - I really like the book, but Power of Now is not resonating with me. I bought it after seeing someone recommend it on this forum (before I was a member). I can see a lot of stuff about inner game and state in the book, and it has helped me develop a vocabulary for talking about and understanding things. But I don't know...to me it felt a little empty. Tony Robbins books have honestly been way more helpful for me than power of now. To answer your question, though, by all means finish it. There's some stuff on relationships too toward the end.

Your not gonna get shit just out of reading it. Yes, your going to get some insight and might have some bodily reactions to what he is saying but your not gonna get very far if you just read it. You think your going to attain enlightenment or inner peace just through reading a book? Get real. The book is very useful if you use what hes saying in your everyday lives. For example everytime im in my car I either do a pain body meditation or I do a meditation on my thoughts. I have been doing this for about 3 months now and the level of peace that I am in today doesnt come close to where I was 3 months ago.

Finish reading it then apply the meditations in your life. Be the watcher of your mind. Be aware of the one who observes. Observe your thoughts and observe your emotions. After a month of doing this you should start seeing some large glimpses of that state in which Tolle calls enlightenment. Its a very liberating feeling. You have alot of realizations and insights about life. Very good book for inner game.

There are way too many books on inner game to remain stuck to one. If the book does not inspire you to take action, chances are you will not take any action.
