Monkey Mind Prepared by Laura Simms A young boy went into the bush to hunt with his bow and arrow. He saw a monkey on the branch of a tree and aimed his arrow. The monkey spoke to him, "Stop. You must think before you shoot me. If you kill me, your mother will die and if you do not kill me, your father will die." |

So the boy has already decided to hunt and is screwed whatever he does. He should have thought about the possibility that he might run into a talking monkey before he set out. Or, he just have to realize that you cannot always reach your goals without sacrifices. Or, the monkey is shit testing him. |

Or things are not always what they seem. Monkeys can't talk, so the boy was imagining it. He killed the monkey and no one died. The end. |

Quote: Monkey Mind
The "monkey" represents his mind/ conciousness / subconsciousness that jumps from thought to thought like a monkey from tree to tree while he has to kill an living creature inorder to provide nutrition to his family. Prepared by Laura Simms A young boy went into the bush to hunt with his bow and arrow. He saw a monkey on the branch of a tree and aimed his arrow. The monkey spoke to him, "Stop. You must think before you shoot me. If you kill me, your mother will die and if you do not kill me, your father will die." Mother= represents positive and warm nurturing emotions/feelings that are fighting against his will to kill an animal. Father= a provider and a leader figure that is something the society is assuming/ requireing from him to be He kills the monkey= His "mother" dies He doesent kill the monkey= His "father" dies So basically he is fighting between these two factors inside his head while confronting different situations in his life ?? Yes I would say its the whole opportunity cost dillema. Which one are you willing to sacrifice for what purpose. But whats the point of killing the monkey in the first place? I dont recon he is going to eat it ? |

when i read it, the first interpretation i had was that the monkey was just stating unrelated facts.... his mother and father will die eventually even if its of old age. i thought it meant something like, even if you perform a certain action, some things will just happen anyway.? |

Thats true. The monkey didnt specify when. And he didnt say that the other one would survive. Maybe it is about putting off the inevitable. Or not making decisions without having the facts. |

Kill the monkey, bury him in the mexican desert, then kidnap all his friends and family, put them in a burning car with 30 pounds of C4, now there is no one left to kill your family. Damn monkeys always causing trouble! |
