I can't talk to strangers..... male or female... I mean how can I be a pua and I can't even get pasted the first step?? So I tried to break it down to find out where this problem stems from, to do this I thought of all the times in the passed where strangers have approached me... and I'm not sure if its the area I grew up in or what but when a stranger approaches me the first thing that goes off in my head is "I dunno what this persons angle is but he's trying to fuck me over somehow" few examples: A) Guy walks up to me, and starts telling me about how he ran outta gas and he needs $10 bucks so he can get home to his family. (same guy same story 2 months later) B) pumping gas and a guy comes up and starts making small talk and then goes into about how he's trying to win some trip and is trying to sell magazines..... C) walking through the malls you have all types of people wanting to talk to you trying to sell you phones and shit.... Its never, "hey how about this weather" or "see that game last night?" So with A,B & C in my head all the time I feel like that's what other people are thinking if I approach them.... Another story: My best friend (the nicest person I've ever met) was driving around once and he wheel became lose to the point it almost fell off, he didn't have a tire iron in his car so he tried to get one from about 10 people and no one would give him the time of day, he didn't even get help til he found someone he knew... Do I just need to move? or is it all in my head? |

Now forget about this PUA stuff why dont you just try just saying 'hello, how are you doing' to 10 elderly people . Just ask them how their day is and walk away. Two things would happen here 1) You'd see that there is nothing wrong in talking to strangers. Every person you know now or are friends with was a stranger to you in the beginning. 2) Since you know what it feels like when someone is talking to you only to get something from you. You could be this only guy out there who is out there just talking to people without wanting anything from them !! |

A little trick I've learned since I started. I'm assuming your from a big city based on your observation that everyone reacts like your trying to sell them something. That's city life unfortunately - everyone wants something from you. And its worse - and scarier - for a good looking lass. I find, whenever I approach and get that 'Ugh what do you want look', the best approach is to just flat out acknowledge it. If I were to create a 'routine' (I don't say it this way every time, but it'll give you the jist) it would look something like ME: Hi HB: *dodgy look* What do you want ME: See, this is what I love about London. Everyone just assumes I want something. Its not like this where I'm from. HB: Where are you from? And you just kinda go from there. Conclusion; Usually, if you call someone out on being a hard nosed, city-slicker type, they either try to prove exactly how hard they are (In which case, I just rip the piss out of them for it, and observe how good I am at plouging a field.) or they get really defensive and say something like 'I stayed on my uncles farm for a week once! I'm not a city type!!!!!'. |
