Post subject:  Mastering Inner Game and Attaining Happiness

Did you ever consider that some of the happiest people in the world are also the poorest? Or that rich actors and rock stars are sometimes not satisfied despite their wealth and the beautiful women that surround them? Or that practitioners of many religions intentionally deprive themselves of basic necessities like human contact, food and shelter in order to attain a higher state of consciousness or enlightenment?

It inspires and facinates me that there are seriously disabled people like Sean Stephenson who live extremely happy and fulfilling lives, and get more out of life than many able bodied people.

So if you don't need amazing women or wealth or power to be happy - or even a normal body - or attain a higher state of consciousness, what do you need? Do you need meaningful accomplishments? A loving family and social network? A belief that you are connected to some higher power?

I think it's probably unhealthy, but I constantly compare myself to bigger, better looking, and more sociable men. I think I'm too different physically (a bit of a freak) to be accepted by mainstream society. (Or do I just lack the social skills or the charm or charisma?) I constantly desire and pine after the most attractive and unattainable women. I've had successes with many 8s and even one ten who used to be a model, but for some reason these successes don't seem to have impressed themselves on my self esteem very much (perhaps cos I got the make outs but not the lay, to be specific).

David DeAngello says that exceptionally attractive women are looking for exceptional men. Why wouldn't they? The problem as I see it is that there's no obvious route to having an exceptional personality.

I reckon if I just had a different attitude, different beliefs, and a different perspective I would be much happier with life.
