| Post subject: | learning from Billy Mays's success |
The man was a legend to say the least. Beyond being a celebrity, he epitomized happiness and being loud as fuck. He pitched to millions of people and gave them practical solutions for more convenient living. Everyone knows the amount of facial hair he had on his face. But the amount of attention he received for his inspirational salutations is far greater. Regardless, at work the other day i took note of people still trying to be like him, not realizing or understanding the legacy he created. He didn't do anything to cause them any personal harm, but he did give them the magic of Oxyclean, Mighty Putty, and Orange Glo. I'm not trying to hate on my co-workers, just trying to learn from their mistakes and Mays's legacy to make myself more undeniably cooler than Michael Jackson just like Billy Mays was. 1. Billy Mays inspired people to be great like him. He saw the potential in household products, no matter if poser bitches ended up copying him later (watch those commercials for "ShamWow"). He had a share of haters, but he didn't let them stop him from growing a bigger beard. 2. Extremely Passionate. When you listen to his pitches, you can feel the enthusiasm. 3. Even though he had rough facial hair, he became an icon. 4. Did not seek approval for what he did. He did pitches the way he wanted, and sold his awesome shit the way he wanted. I just wanted to pay my respect to him by making this thread. Please feel free to add anything else about him, or talk about how he influenced you. |

Nice, not only did you fail to get a clear point across, you made a jackass of yourself. Whatever fuels your ego. |

I think you did a great job and I think your absolutely right, he was a good salesman cause he had that charisma that anyone needs to be a successfull salesman just like a pro wrestler has. He pitched the way he wanted he had enthusiasm, he didnt seek appoval from anyone. He drew attention to himself by being loud. He had it all |

I think you're admiring Billy for completely the wrong reasons. The way I look at it, he didn't sell products the way he wanted, he sold them perfectly. Billy was one of the greatest marketers who ever lived, and marketing is basically what you're doing as a PUA. |
