Hey all, just wanted to share a little something that I have been doing in the past few days with good success. The term "getting in state" is thrown around a lot among PUA's. Personally, I believe that there are two types of situations that require one to get "in state" and the logistics and requirements of these situations dictate different means by which to approach them. These situations are as follows: 1) Getting into state before a night out sarging or before going to an environment conducive to meeting and picking up women. Here, the PUA is usually at home or at an environment that can allow external stimulation to pique the PUA's excitement and energy. The PUA can blast loud, fast music and can look in the mirror and scream affirmations at himself until he believes them. The PUA can take time to think back to a situation during which he felt truly confident and can try to get back in that same state. 2) Getting into state and maintaining state while one is already in a conversation or in an interaction, whether within the social circle or within a previously opened set. In this situation, the PUA is already invested in the interaction and cannot just leave to go and listen to loud music or run off to the bathroom for some mirror motivation. The thing that has helped me in such a situation is to blink and mentally tell myself something along the lines of "Ur cool, ur the best, ur the shit, u are the prize, people are priveleged to be talking to u, u are not needy," and then blink and believe what u just told yourself. Hold ur head up higher and continue the interaction. Recently, if I have been in a conversation and have felt as if I've been projecting a beta or needy vibe, I will repeat my mental lines to myself. This then brings me back into state and allows me to continue the interaction as the true alpha male that I am. Let me know what u guys think. Best, Karma |

I get what ur saying. These affirmations were popularized by Napoleon Hill and his Think and Grow Rich bestseller (awesome book btw), which in simple terms says, your mind projects your future. This feeds into self-fulfilling prophecies, The Secret, the placebo effect, etc. I personally am a huge proponent of self-actualization. I have note cards I flip through every now and then that say things like, "I am unshakable," "Everyone likes me," "I'm happy, I'm healthy" etc. Brian Tracy, self-help guru, also recommends doing this. It's great for confidence building. The idea is, you can program your sub-conscious for WHATEVER you want, and with enough repetition, you basically brainwash urself into believing it. And in turn, it becomes your reality. It's cool shit, and it works. Word. Thanks Karma for re-shedding light on this concept. I don't use this for maintaining state, but I can see how it would work well for that. |

I forgot... In case this is something some of you guys want to try out (which I def recommend), there are three basic rules. 1. Must be in first person, ie. "I" & "me" statements. ex. "I am the shit" 2. Must be in the PRESENT tense, ex. "I am doing great with women", NOT future tense, "I will do good tonight with women" (bad) 3. Must be personal. What is it YOU truly want? Truly? Remember (and I forgot who said this but), Its your reality; everyone else is just a guest. |

The only way I seem to be able to get into state is if Im with friends and competing or teaching its weird |

Inner game is all about the subconscious mind. Affirmations DEFINITELY work, because they hit the subconscious mind, but they have to be done right. Saying them while you're fully conscious won't have that great of an effect. Saying them under meditation or hypnosis will bump the effects up x50. THATS when affirmations REALLY work, and they work amazingly. |

I have problems with getting into state too, but in a different way. I am usually confident, relaxed, assuming value and all that stuff. My problem is that I usually just can't find the energy, the inspiration, passion, enthusiasm and what not, that you need to keep the conversation interesting and flowing. It doesn't matter how the other person acts, if he/she is socially competent or not. I usually become bored anyway, and loose interest in all people around me (which includes everyone), and because of that I become boring myself, dragging other people down. This definitely puts me in the role of the buyer, which could be a good thing. But it is bad in every other aspect. Can anyone relate to this? And do you have any advice? |
