Post subject:  Your Job Influences Your Personality

Cognitive dissonance suggests that we rationalize our mind based on the circumstances that affect us externally. For example, if we are engaged in a lower tiered job, we will try to rationalize our way into thinking that it is appropriate for us to hold this particular role instead of trying to escape this poverty cycle that the strong has acceded to us. So it is to a very important extent that we take on the right job so that our emotions can become in synch with us. In fact, you should aim for a career that can allow you to progress in ways that can most benefit your growth as a person.

By taking on roles that are more challenging to yourself, you will naturally feel more aligned with your own emotions. In addition, your job can also shape your personality as you are required to mould yourself into a particular person in order to accomplish the job best. As such, if you are unhappy with your job, chances are, your personality traits are struggling to support your external environment.

If you cannot find the right career path, take a time off and think through thoroughly because your dream is going to be the most important pursue in your life.

I use to do construction work, now i sell real estate. and have to say it definitely helped a lot of the self talk I was doing during the day.

It was not a cure all by any means but your job definitely will affect your self talk. I am not sure that real estate is my dream job but it has definitely changed my image of myself.

I think something needs to be said about enjoying your work. If you LOVE your job and it does not negatively effect your self talk, it is cool in my opinion, as long as you make it work.

If you are in a field you dislike or cannot grow in which seems limiting to you, then switching fields and jobs seems needed. Life is short, you need to enjoy the ride while it lasts.
