| Post subject: | Alpha males intimidate me |
How do I stop feeling intimidated when around other males who I seem to be better than me in some way For example when I'm playing sport and I'm with players who are good, I don't want to piss them off by being bad at the game. But in thinking so, I completely fuck everything up and become totally useless.. Or when in a social situation with someone who is really well spoken and intelligent, I tend to feel completely stupid by comparison. Then I start putting pressure on myself to say something smart or witty, beginning a downward spiral of making erratic comments and losing control of my own voice... I think it's related to a fear of being judged but what can I do to change my beliefs..? |

you can't 'stop it' per se, that's why alpha's act alpha, it marks them out as 'leaders' and makes other people feel inferior / fearful so they do what the alpha wants and dont get in his wayFor example when I'm playing sport and I'm with players who are good, I don't want to piss them off by being bad at the game. If you don't want to feel inferior, which is a slightly different thing, either get good at the things you are challenging them on, or get established in your mind what you respect and what matters to you in a person and reaslise that no person is good at everything and not being good at one particular thing doesn't make you a bad person. Admire them or respect them for their 'ability' but understand and feel that that's not exclusive to admiring and respecting yourself for different things. |

You just have to get into the mindset that everyone around you is out of your control. If that guy over there is really funny and smart. Good for him. Let him be funny and smart. You have to play to your strengths and not be intimidated by those around you. If you want to get wittier (although I'm not sure how one becomes witty, but let's just use this as an example) then that's something that you have to work on. You have to build yourself. Also, if that guy you were talking to is better looking, funnier, etc. chances are there's something that you're better at that he wants. So just focus on yourself more than everyone around you. There's always someone that's better than you at something. You just have to be self assured in yourself and know that it does not matter that they are better than you. |
