My manager is the greatest example of an alpha male. Whenever he takes us out for dinner, I often find I analyze him so that I can emulate him. Very positive, motivated guy with a very high amount of confidence that I have never seen in anyone else. My goal is to be like him in my career and personal life. I think its a great idea to respect those we admire and want to become someday. Anyone else do this? |

I have a bad habit of doing this too. Like I said: a BAD habit. Notice what`s your motivation to admire the man. Is it a good motivation? Are you that self interested? Don`t you find that a bit disturbing in yourself? If you are at the same page I was/ still am; you are doing it wrong. First step`s admitting it. |

I model Alpha Males myself, but I tend to focus more on what they DO than anything else. I try to do it as objectively as possible without being like "oh my god, my manager is so alpha I wanna be him." Instead I'm like, Hmmm how is their eye contact, their vocal tonality, etc. |

I've actually modeled myself after many Alpha Males on TV and movies as well. It's perfectly fine, infact, most of us do it without realizing it. Most of us are a combination of our parents, friends, characters we've observed on TV, and so on. We take qualities and bits and pieces from other people and create ourselves out of them. But that's the key, take positive qualities you like from other people and incorporate them into your existing personality. Never try to completely imitate someone else because then you'll lose your own sense of identity. |
