I wonder if someone can tell me some steps I can follow for meditation technique! Heard about it for a long time now, but I don't know what it really is! Can someone provide a simple tutorial for it please?
Thanks

Sure thing man!

The great thing about meditation is, you can practice anywhere, at any time. There's a sort of threshold in the beginning, before you've learned to flip the switch that shuts off your mind but you'll quickly learn and get better and better if you practice.

Meditation means focusing all of your attention on your senses. Observe the touch sensation on any object you are touching. Observe your sight, notice the color and shadow of anything you see. Hearing smell and taste are the same way. Pain, breathing, and other sensations like itchiness can also be observed, they are part of the touch sense.

The trick comes when you include ones mind. Meditators call the mind the sixth sense. It perceives things, then uses words or emotions to comment on the things it perceives. Usually these comments are negative and complaining. This is the dysfunctional nature of the mind.

By continuing to observe the 5 senses, and observing the 6th sense whenever it creates a mental dialogue, you will learn to silence this dialogue. A good way to test what a silenced mind sounds like is to say "What will my next thought be?" and then listen intently for the next thought to come from your mind. This peaceful mind-silence can be achieved every moment of your life if you observe the 6 senses correctly. Good luck!

Thank you! So I tried doing this earlier today! I only felt itchiness in my arms and back but nothing else! I thought it has to do with clearing your mind so everytime something came up I just ignored it and started from nothing! Basically sitting there in the dark closing my eyes and not thinking of anything. I guess I'm doing it wrong then eh?

This will happen at the beginning. Soon you will discover that your attempts to ignore your own thoughts were really just your own thoughts creeping up again. You are so identified with your mind that you can't flip the switch yet.

This is normal. As you walk around all day, pay attention to your breathing and body sensations and smile. You will find it very soon.

What about panic and anxiety. What sense do those sensations belong to?
