Post subject:  How can I get rid of "Mental Fog"?

I started reading pickup literature about mid-way through this summer, and it has drastically changed who I am and how I interact with those around me. However my biggest challenge thus far is my ability to keep my energy levels high and participate in conversation. My levels of energy change from day to day, hour to hour, yet I know some people who always seem to have infinite wells of energy. These are the people that I look to for Alpha characteristics, and I have had some success in emulating them.

But there are far too many times where I find myself in a social interaction and I either have nothing to say, or worse, I say something it goes completely unanswered. More often than not I feel as though I have a "mental fog" that hinders social interaction. It feels as though my brain has turned off or at the very least slowed down. As a result, I say stupid things, slur my words, and lose my confidence. I wanted to reach out and see if anyone has suggestion for being able counter this "fog."

I am currently attend a very hard liberal arts university on the East Coast, I am a Varsity cross country and track runner, In a fraternity, and am comfortable with my appearance. I vigorously work out/run everyday, limit my caffeine intake, and eat healthy. Even with all of this, I still sometimes feel as though I cannot think clearly, or though feel as I had just woken up. Any suggestions for boosting my energy and lifting the fog from my mind would be greatly appreciated.

I have this exact same problem. I used to smoke a lot of pot and suffered from insomnia, so I'm sure that was part of it. But still, keeping high energy in conversations is a problem for a lot of people.

I'm sure there are books and reading on this topic, but I don't know of any offhand. I think maybe something as simple as drinking a Redbull might help, or a 5hour energy. Also warming up to socializing before actually socializing is a good way to get in the right state. Call your mom or dad up on the way to the bar/club. Catch up for a few minutes. This will get your voice warmed up and your brain moving, might even give you some topics of conversation to start speaking about when you get there.
