Post subject:  way of the surperior man - chapter 8

Can anyone explain chapter eight in The way of the surperior man by David Deida for me? The chapter is called "lean just beyong your edge"

This is a quote from it:

"Your fear is the sharpest definition of your self. You should know it. You should feel it virtually constantly. Fear needs to become your friend, so that you are no longer uncomfortable with it. Rather, primary fear shows you that you are at your edge. Staying with the fear, staying at your edge, allows real transformation to occur."

Are they recommending me to accept fear and anxiety as a natrual part of my state? So far I have agreed with everything this book has said but this is raising some red flags. I want to become fearless. This chapter also talks about that you shouldn't overpush yourself which I know I sometimes do in my studies.

I feel for myself that I want to push myself to achieve my potential even if I can become sick from overworking. I also want to do this without fear and anxiety. This chapter seems to suggest that I don't overpush myself though while I accept my fear.

Could anyone shed some light on this?

basically hes just saying to face your fears as opposed to running from them. the way to become fearless is by facing your fears head on.
