I have a brother who is 16.. he is a very lazy kid.. he doesnt play any sport.. he doesnt go out with his friends.. he doesnt study his subjects.. i dont think he even has any close friends.. all he does is sit in front of the computer and watch movies and cartoons and japanese animated tv series, etc. I fight with him a lot but i do care for him.. when i tried to explain him that he needs to go out and make friends also start a sport, he gets angry thinking that im trying to pin-point on his mistakes and weaknessess.. What do you guys think i should do to help him? |

What is he good at? Is he the creative kinds. Why dont you try taking him to different places with you to see where his interest lies. Take him to a musical, an art gallery, watch a theatre with him, a musical, a band and check where what excites him.he is a very lazy kid.. he doesnt play any sport.. he doesnt go out with his friends.. he doesnt study his subjects.. i dont think he even has any close friends.. all he does is sit in front of the computer and watch movies and cartoons and japanese animated tv series, etc. I fight with him a lot but i do care for him.. when i tried to explain him that he needs to go out and make friends also start a sport, he gets angry thinking that im trying to pin-point on his mistakes and weaknessess.. What do you guys think i should do to help him? Dont Pressure him. Just speak with him - has he just lost a girlfriend, does he suffer from being bullied at school. There may be soo many things that he must be going through and hence being withdrawn - he is going through adolescence and needs to find his strengths, something that he is good at. Good luck and let us know if we could help. Feel free to PM. Your friend, Marc |

tell him "when you're 60 years old do you want to look back on your life and say you never reached your full potential? mind body and spirit.. do you really want to live the rest of your life half ass and wish you did more when its too late. you're not gonna have a second chance, every year of your life counts dont just think cause you're in high school its okay to not care and you'll figure things out when you're 20 because at 20 many doors and dreams you may of had will shut on you because of the choices you made now. i tell you this because i want to see you lead a happy successful full life its not to pick on you. think about what im telling you real hard and then think about great people who have done so much in their life time. would you rather be like them or be the next generation of average joes with 4 kids and a wife who resents you and wish you were 16 again to start over. work out or play sports and exceed academically because the feel of triumph is worth it." |

Show him this thread and the replies people give. I'm 21 at the moment and I was exactly like your little brother until I was about 18. I'm sure many people were. All I did was sit in front of my computer playing videos games and watching animes. I regret how much time was wasted. The age of 16-18 are so important because when you turn 21 you regret how much time was wasted. It's time that you can never get back. I'm sure this happens with everyone, but my friends and I always talk about how we wish we could go back in time and do more with our lives--and we're in our early 20s. |
