The Power of Now I see alot of new guys in this community come in looking for a magic pill. A few lines or techniques that will get them laid. As we all know these don't exist. The most powerful changes on this earth are gradual. One thing I have noticed about these changes is that they care nothing for past or future. They happen each and every moment regardless of what's going on around them. They happen right now. The Power We Let Past and Future have over us Powerful men and women have goals, but they all know that the past cannot be changed. The future is focused on by many. I.E. someday I'll have the girl I want, the car of my dreams, a vault full of cash, or a soap that grows my penis to whatever size I want it to be. The problem with this is is that when your focus is on the future or the past it cannot be on the now. You cannot just be. I notice alot of guys saying that they can get a girl attracted to them, but then they don't know what to say. Why? because they aren't living in the now. Routines are past memories that create a fun vibe. There is nothing wrong with that, but many times they are not spur of the moment things. They are preplanned ways of talking that make you look cool. Fuck that, you are cool right now. Your game is a 10 right now. Forget your past. Forget your future. What can you do right this moment to improve yourself. Then don't just sit there and think about it. Do it! The Power of Silence I bet you are asking yourself. How do I consistently get rid of all the crazy noise of thoughts circling through my head. One good way is to focus on the silence around you. Look around you, just sit back for a second and listen. Not to the noises around you, but to the silence. There is beauty in silence. There is stillness in it. There is peace in it. This stillness is the place where great thoughts come from. Our minds are so cluttered with all these garbage thoughts these days that it's no wonder we can't attain peace. You have to stop thinking to start living in the now. Right now I stop typing on this, and observe around me... I sat in silence for a few seconds..... I then looked around my room. It's a pretty simple dorm room, but I noticed the walls were made of huge bricks. I thought about the man who sat in a factory making those bricks, day after day after day. All he probably does is make bricks. Then I thought how could this man enjoy making bricks that has to be so routine and monotonous... I sat in silence again....... The only way he could possibly enjoy it is to take pride in his work right now. To make every brick the best it could possibly be. Not to focus on the fact that he has to make 3872 bricks to reach his quota today. Living in the now gives you power. Nothing can effect you for long. You are transperant to anything negative. Pain takes time. Time doesn't exist in the now therefore it just moves right through you. Ask yourself what is this moment lacking? Whatever the answer is don't think about attaining it that would be living in the future. Just go attain it. Right now. |

What if you don't even know what it is you want to attain in the first place? |

I agree I have read some extremely spiritual stuff because my feeling on it is if people have believed something for 100s of years it must have some strong innate truth to it. I wrote the silence part after realizing that one of my main sticking points was thinking too much. I would never let myself enjoy silence for a bit. My thoughts would be racing and racing until eventually I would come back to reality(now), and realize I had missed half of what the amazing woman I was talking to had said. I have found it much more effective to instead focus on the silence for a short time then go completely back to the present, and what she is saying. Quote: What if you don't even know what it is you want to attain in the first place?
this statement shows that you are not fully in the present. If you were focused on the now truly then it wouldn't even come up, hence as aqua said you have lost the now.

The Power of Now is also a book by a guy named Eckhard Tole...powerful stuff, but at the same time, less about confidence building per se than it is about...hrmm...I guess about trying to kind of learn how to live at peace with yourself as you are, and work to become the person you want to be. Good post, and definitely some nice wisdom in there, for those that look for it. |
