| Post subject: | How I'm learning body language |
Just thought I'd throw out how I'm learning body language for some discussion. I do the usual mental note taking and silent study at parties, work and whenever I just see my mates. But one key thing I'm doing is watching Jeremy Kyle. No shit. For those of you who haven't seen it, it's english Jerry Springer I have an hour lunch break from work each day, so I sit down with my laptop in front of the Jeremy Kyle show and see what I can pick up. I've got a couple of e-books on body language and whenever a good signal comes up (usually eyes or posture) I hit ctrl+f and look it up. I try and make conclusions on the body language before the lie detector results come out. That's how I judge if I've done a good days study or practice. It's easy learning because everybody on the show is very emotional and find it hard to control themselves. I also like watching the 6pm news because that offers a wider array of emotions from interviewees. I hope this idea is useful to somebody out there. |

hey man, im knew here but i just read your thread and wanted to add that im the same! I find watching reality shows has been a MASSIVE help in learning body language, like, you wouldnt just go out into the field and just start oggling every pair of legs that walks on by trying to analyze, people will be like "wtf??" (thats if your green and stand out like a sore thumb right?) I find shows like Dating in the dark, the bachelor and bachelorette, jeremy kyle etc are really good. It's amazing that after a while of just trying to look out for little details and piecing them together your soon able to natuarally just look at someone and have a fair sense of empathy etc. I've just started out doing some field tests in the past few weeks and i DEF think that im able to notice more and pick up on a lot more things, not only in a shorter amount of time, but im able to respond and in most cases get a really positive result Im still pretty green though, havent been doing it for long enough BUT i interact with every girl whos body language i read as open and suggestive and ive never been turned away or made a fool of.. give me another month of field testing and see where im at. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBOtj1RmaUE That is the best video I've watched on body language. Lie to me is the best television show I've watched on body language and reading people I highly recommend it. I don't recommend dating shows or reality tv shows, a lot of that behavior is manufactured. It's artificial behavior and therefore incongruent, it makes the behavior hard to trust. |
