Why would you want to change your accent?

I came to UK 3 years ago, and my accent still pretty strong. Sometimes when communicating I can feel that people don't understand me, because of my accent...
Attracting a HB or even a 7 with an accent is not very easy :?

i guess your talking about a pr accent don`t try to be fake a fake accent it doesn`t work and people see through it. if your after improving your voice and the way you speak maybe look at acting lessons you have to learn to speek so everyone understands your voice and how to present yourself

I'm a south side Chicago guy. No lie bro I would love to pick up an English accent by practicing. Any idea on how to improve, and practice on one instead of having to go over to England? ha ha

watch lots of british tv, I wouldn't go for teh stereotypical british accent as no one actually has it over here. But yar watch Skins, the inbetweeners and any russell brand. THen you will start picking up the tonality etc

definately watch a lot of british television, but it depends as britain has more than just one accent. for example: the posh british accent held by people like hugh grant or colin firth, the cockney accent held by people like del boy (only fools and horses)

Mate best bet is to go to a elocution or accent coach. You're not going to pick up the accent well just by watching posh british people on the telly.

Trouble with accents is they come with a certain attitude, body language, banter etc. I've tried it personally, putting on a southern accent (I'm from the North) when down south, and they always click that there is something off (might be my bad acting). I've pulled off a great southern US accent with a girl from saint lou but she was pretty drunk.

By far the easiest to pickup is the stereotypical Queens speak. Easiest to understand throughout the country, but can be seen as pompus in some areas. Watch feature british films they cater for the international market i.e. how brits should speak.

I would personally keep the accent and play on it. e.g. "don't you speak English". (in a cocky funny styley)

What you could do in a loud club when she struggles to understand you is isolate to a quiter area or move in closer. Then use your new "improved" accent.

Good luck

Another even more interesting paradigm is to travel someplace where your native accent is exotic.

I studied a semester in Prague, Czech Republic and then Australia and the girls couldn't get enough of my accent. It was mindblowing.

This is an entirely different topic, but spending time in other nations and other cultures is one of the best things you can do to improve yourself. Coming back to America after having a life-changing experience abroad for half a year? Talking to girls aint shit.

You could listen to me speak :D

But srsly, idk what is good about the british accent? Probly cause i live in england, the accent isnt as "omg wow i love your accent" but i have heard storys about in america how the british accent is a real good puller.

Theres a good British comedian called Jimmy Carr, who speaks in a quite "posh" british accent, listen to some of his shows on youtube, and u could pick it up =]
