Your not alone. Idle handes is common. Ill give you tips I use. They work for me. 1. Drink - Im not saying get drunk, but get a little buzzed. It helps deal with the awareness in your head of what your hands are doing or what should they be doing. 2. Lightly clasp your middle finger or ring finger and thumb just so they are slightly touching together when you get this feeling. You may still get this feeling but not as bad. *always do this when you feel it...IT WORKS 3. Realize that this is nervous habit. I have others, for example I touch my chin a lot in conversations. I know I do it, so I make a mental note not too when thought comes to my head. Just keep pracicing breaking the habit. Time will help. I used to bite my nails for like 8 years, now I never do. Hope this help some |

We've all been there. A lot of the times when I go to bars, I drive, so I can't drink a whole lot. I makes me uncomfortable when I'm the only person not drinking. I feel like I stand out. But keep in mind, you want to stand out. You don't want to just be another dude standing around smoking or drinking. 90% of the guys at bars have glasses in their hands because they feel nervous without one. Or they drink because they feel nervous socializing otherwise. Remember, you're there to meet girls, not to drink or smoke. I've always been very shy and have had to force myself against my will into social situations in order to overcome it. No pain, no gain. It seems painful at first, but the more you do it, the more you get accustomed to it. You could always get a glass of water or something, but how much water are you really going to drink throughout the night? In the end, it's best to face the anxiety. |
