Post subject:  How much peacocking is right?

Hi guys,

Just a simple question. How much peacocking works best for you, and what are your favourite ways of peacocking? I seem to be getting slightly but not terribly better results when I peacock a bit compared to wearing completely normal stuff, I haven't tried anything really extreme (like what Mystery often wears) yet.

So any advice?

I'm new to PU, but before I knew about it, I peacocked kinda naturally.
I dont go out to clubs n pubs too often (cause im underage), but when my fake ID does work and I do go out, I think it works best to wear something fasionable, but brightly coloured, or wear like dark trousers n shirt with matching, but also really bright(almost luminous sometimes if ur in a club), tie, socks and belt.
I dont get much attention from complete strangers, more from girls in my extended social circle (like a friends friend).
anyone else?
Id also like to know the best ways to peacock

The next time I go out I plan to go as far as I can, and see if it works.

I used to have long hair, it worked quite well, maybe it wasn't such a great idea to cut it.

I typically wear fashionable blue jeans that fit well and snug (outlining the package nicely...I often catch women getting a glimpse at my crotch), and a brightly and/or multi-colored button-down shirt (love paisley's) OR black jeans and a black or black + some other color button down shirt. Since I'm older my hair is a little thin, but I'm growing it longer and I give it a wet look using some hair products. Women don't seem to even notice that my hair is a bit thin.

Accessorizing is where I get most of my peacocking value however. I have two small hoop earrings on my left ear, and I hang something cool from one of the hoops...usually a dragon claw holding a crystal, or right now I have two small daggers with skulls on them that dangle from about a 2-3" chain. Women seem to love the dangly earring...it's even been a conversation starter a time or two. I also wear a skull ring on my lefthand ring finger (it replaced my wedding band...somehow that just seems comical to me), and a mood ring on my picky (one of several I have so that I can give it away as an excuse to get back together...so far that hasn't worked so well for me though). I usually wear a studded belt with a Gothic cross belt-buckle, and (especially in black) I have a bit of a Gothic and/or musician look about me (the musician part being accurate). When it's cold, I wear a black leather jacket that has a texture that almost looks like snake skin. Women seem to like it. I've been told that I "look like a musician". I've been told I "stand out" in a crowd, but in a good way. That's what I'm after.

I was dressed in all black last Friday...a young woman in a club asked if I was Bono (the singer from U2)... I can't recall what I said, but I SHOULD have said "No, I'm Boner!" LOL.

The most unusual piece of "peacockware" I've tried would be one of two leather collars I occasionally wear...both are black leather (one has stud that match my belt, the other has some chain links that hang off of it), and I usually only wear one of those if I'm otherwise dressed completely in black (they go well with a black shirt and create a little contrast). I'd say the collar is noticeably unusual. I've had a couple women ask me "is that a collar?" to which I reply "yeah, do you have a leash handy?". They get a laugh out of the sexual innuendo in that reply. When I'm in all black and wearing one of the collars is also the times when some woman has approached me and said "you're hot" or "I would hurt you!". Damn, I need to capitalize better on that. One woman who's a friend only has told me a number of times "you accessorize better than I do". That seems like a powerful statement coming from a woman. Some women probably wonder if I'm gay (I've been asked by a guy before if I was gay), but I'm not sure that's a bad thing...disarms their defenses perhaps? I don't *look* or *act* gay...I *look* like a musician, which is what I'm after.

So, I keep it tasteful, "looks like a musician", and a little Gothic and mysterious, rather than just outright "look at me" silly.

Gruuve's style seems like mine, smart simple but with interesting things to start conversation about.

My usual attire is one of two things depending on the type of game I am using, if I dress to divide I wear a skin tight black t-shirt or shirt dark jeans and as much jewelry as I can lay my hands on.
If I am going a little smarter I go for a looser black shirt with a couple of bracelets.

Cowboy boots with both, I usually get told I look like a musician or skater (???)

I when I go out i usually wear jeans, this superman shirt I have, and a white button up shirt with only like the bottom two buttons done up so that the superman sign is visible, I invested in a nice seiko watch, and a few bracelets from American eagle, to complete the outfit..

As far as peacocking I always have about 4 or 5 Mardi Gras beads with me. (usually two around my neck at a time, the others around my wrist or in my pocket) which i use as a lock in prop. sometimes depending on the venue I'll wear a funny hat like mystery, or some really colorful sunglasses.

the mardi gras beads make for a great lock in prop because you can get 12 for a dollar at the dollar store, so who cares if you don`t get them back from a girl..

My rule of thumb: show off your good features, hide your not-so-good features.

I have I guess sort of a "runner's body"...slender, with muscular legs, and less muscular arms and chest (although I'm working on that part  ...I do have broad shoulders and I just need to really hit some weights!), so I tend to wear snug jeans and a loose shirt...that "shows off" the muscular lower body but hides the less muscular upper body. In fact, I often wear a button down shirt that is maybe one size too big...it sort of "blouses out" and gives the illusion that I'm more triangular-shaped than I actually am.

My favorite jeans are Levi 514's...those are snug rather than loose, sit below the waist, are really comfortable, and fit me perfectly IMO. For whatever reason, those jeans frame "the package" really well...I often catch women staring at my crotch when I wear any of the 514's. Unfortunately, the 514's don't seem to be available in black, only various shades of lighter and darker blue.

The leather collar strikes again...last time I was out, a woman about my age stopped on her way out and said "That collar is fucking hot!" as her sober friend dragged her out the door. LOL.

I just bought a third collar off Ebay...it's very small, black leather, and has crystal letters on it that say "GRUUVE"...LOL. This one actually IS a dog collar, but WTF do I care? It was dirt cheap, and I hope I'll get some mileage off of it.

I prefer silver bracelet + silver chainlet and that's enough for me

Personally, I think its enough once you get opened by girls because of it. Or if you stand out enough from a crowd to make a positive impression on people. Generally I have something interesting on me that girls could come up and open me for. A necklace or anything like that could work. Don't go all out though, you don't want the "What the fuck is he wearing?" kind of reaction.

Whats wrong with getting that kind of reaction? As long as you carry your self with confidence and own it fashion wise, a girl that has that question in her head will want to check out "what the fuck" your wearing.
