I've recently realized the subtle advantages to a well placed scent and wanted to share.

I've never been one to wear cologne, even when trying to peacock. The intense smell bugs me and lowers my comfort factor.

BUT,

having some kind of scent that works well with your personal chemistry remains important. I typically use this aftershave lotion (whether shaving or not). It soaks into your skin and emits a very pleasant scent that is available only if she gets close to your neck. Once the girl I'm with gets a taste of the scent, she now has a very good reason to stay close to my neck. I consistently receive the compliment, "Wow/gosh/holy-crap, I didn't realize how good you smell!" Great opportunity to make them feel good for the compliment and now that hug is accompanied by another reward for the good things she does around you.

I agree I have never really been one for colognes but I went out tonight and got several compliments on some shitty lynx fragrance I was wearing (the chocolate one) so I may have to rock it out some more. I think how the scent plays of the persons natural smell and the environment make a massive difference. It's all about trying different things to find something that suits you/matches your target audience.

Trust me man, cologne has it's time and place. It's all about moderation. You know those really rank smelling guys you get in clubs that have literally DRENCHED themselves in the shit? Put bluntly, if that's how you're going about it, then there's no hope.

But the subtle scent, applied discretely with moderation... well like you said, they'll be clamouring over you. I personally recommend Dolce & Gabbana - The One. Gorgeous smell, yet very subtle. Take it or leave it bro ;)

Aftershave has become quite a big part of my game... It's good for playing the guessing game, etc. 99% of the time, they haven't a clue what it is I'm wearing, which allows for a slight neg. 8) When they get closer for a smell, it's a damn good chance for some kino, too.

If you can do it subtly, yet noticeably (I've had girls go "Someone smells amazing" from across a kitchen to me at a party) then it works wonders. Its about finding one that works with your skin and that suits your style.

I've found Armani Diamond for colder or more serious occasions whilst Diesel's Fuel for Life or Versace's Dreamer works great in warmer or less formal occasions.

I use different types of cologne or different seasons and certain occassions. As for aftershave I go with Armani Aqua di'Gio.
