Post subject:  Finding a good (gay?) hairstylist

Okay, so I'm a man. I never pay more than $10 for a haircut. I go to supercuts, and I ALWAYS look worse after. I think I always get the trainees. Occasionally I'll get something that looks good, but that's far and few between.

Here is my question: how do I find a good hair stylist? Someone who can "find my style"? Hell, I'm looking for one of the gay guys from the fab 5 to say "psht, I know exactly how to make you look good grrrlfren."

I understand it's probably going to cost me $50, or more. I'm fine with that. I've come to terms with that. But where do I go? I don't want to walk into a salon with 65 year old women styling hair. *shudder*

ok... you have the fucking perfect opener here. While you are out, find some really trendy girls and ask them. They would love to give thier imput on how to improve your looks. You may even meet a stylist.

Other than that go here

lots of great haircuts. then once you find a good stylist, print off a pic of the style you like.....

But where would i go to find a good stylist? If I ask girls, they'll just point me to their favorite salon - not what I want.

let me rephrase the question. If I were a male model, getting ready for a photoshoot in 3 days, where would I go to find a good stylist?

Or, I guess the real question is, where would I find local male models to direct me to their stylist? :p

CK is right here man - ask some girls. Remember, those salons that girls go to are almost always unisex, and they are one and the same as the place that a male model type would go. To my knowledge, there is no such thing as a super-stylish "Just for Men" stylist because ladies' hair is where the money is at (just look at the price differences). BTW, a good convo point you can bring up if you're talking to women about hair is to tease them about how much cheaper it is for you to get your hair done than it is for them - they go crazy when they get a chance to vent about this...

Anyhow, if you don't want to ask, a pretty decent place to start would be Toni & Guy (I don't work there, I swear!). It's a chain with locations everywhere in the US and around the world, and they do good work. I went there when I first got to Munich because I knew them and knew they would do a consistently good job until I could find a better/more convenient place.

Thanks for pointing out im right Rigo. Cause I am.

My mother was a stylist for years. She would cut mens and womens. Male models, whoever. Models generally get their hair cut at salons by the same stylists as the trendy looking women. If this is something you really are generally interested in, open some women with this. It is a 1000000% money opener. I fucking guarantee!!! They will absolutely love to give their opinion.

Besides, without us knowing where you live, how the fuck are we gonna tell you where to go?

Also, print off a few of those styles from that website I linked. Once you find the right stylist, and aske them what they think would look best on you.

The women you ask will also give you tips on a style that they think will look good and they are your target audience (can't think of a better way to phrase it, long day of media bullshit). Also ask female friends where they get their hair done, finally good tip go for a salon that has slightly older young women working in it. Too young equals little experience, too old means you will quite often get a monstrosity.

Interesting guys, I'll give it a shot.

I always assumed that there were secret mens stylists to balance out all the womens shit.
