I want a full-body workout with all body weight exercises [no equipment needed]. I googled it, and found info ABOUT workouts similar to it, but no actual plans, just certain exercises I can include. I don't want someone to sit down and type me up something personalized or anything, just a push in the right direction, or maybe a book/commercial plan I can buy/download. Anyone? |

I,m a tad confused as to what kind of workout you are looking for. Gettin into shape, or gettin toned? From what I'm reading, it looks like cardio and some good ol' push ups, sit ups, and chin ups would be a good start. |

Looking to lose a little weight and get more toned. Just pushups, situps, and chinups isn't a workout, I'll miss a lot of major muscle groups.. Thanks for the input though. I want something a little more extensive, so I can have a full workout without equipment. I do have an exercise ball, one of those big inflatable ones. And a few light dumbells. But I'd prefer just body weight exercises. |

Man, it's all about WiiFit. Hands down. Then again, I'm pretty big on exergaming, it might not be your cup of tea. Just suggesting of course. I do know of a workout website, exrx.net. Not sure how much it'll help but it might be able to. |

You can't really get a full body workout without weights or equipment but you can do well enough... you could do something like: Monday: Sit ups ( do straight forward ones, then after each one bring your right elbow to your left knee, then straight, then your left elbow to your right knee etc... so it works your obliques. That will give you a nice v look to your stomach)::::: Then do leg workouts, if you do legs 2 or 3 times a week your body gets used to producing the extra testosterone and it makes you gain faster, now i understand you are just going for tone and not mass so two times will give you a little edge and not make you a meat head lol... so basically for this you can do anything that makes your legs soar, do lunges around the house do squats while holding a 24 pack of beer or a chair do w/e you need. You can also do jumping squats i haven't really researched those too much but they work your legs a lot. Tuesday: Push ups (first put your hand in a diamond shape, this will work more of the middle back, lats, and triceps i think, then do regular push ups, then maybe throw in some wide stance push ups.) ( then you can even put your legs up on the couch or a chair and do them that way to get even a harder workout) Wednesday: Bicep workout ( If you're not wanting to use weights go for some milk jugs or ive even lifted chairs before lol...) just do some basic curls they are pretty simple and easy to work. Then you can also do reverse curls which if you don't know what it is you can prob google it but its just holding your hands the opposite way which works forearms better. Thursday: Get back on those sit ups if you're going for the tone look you should probably be doing these twice a week. Friday: ??? Myabe throw in some legs on this day since you had tues/wed/thurs to rest. i dunno do whatever else you want to work out lol, just don't do the same muscle group two days in a row... Some other misc workouts you can do around the house are: ( bath tub dips, which is basically sit in the bath tub and life yourself up with the side of the tub) (leg lifts, this really helps the lower abs, you can do it off your bed or just plain on the ground) ( lower back is very important too, just basically do toe touches and hold something with a little weight to it. be careful thought its easy to hurt yourself doing this) ( also one last weird one is a neck exercise you can do, you basically lay on the ground and put a book on your forehead, then you sorta shake your head yes lol and if you do it right it can really really work your neck muscle)............................. Well hope that helped some, i was bored so that was a bit long. Basically if you're wanting to get tone this should work fine, toning your body requires you to do light weight with high reps, if you are wanting to build mass then this is not for you and you need to hit the gym with some weights. Good luck have fun and throw some cardio in there if you wanna live past 60 |

If I had DDR at home I'd lose a LOT of weight haha. I don't have a wii, otherwise that'd be cool. Then again, I'm pretty big on exergaming, it might not be your cup of tea. Just suggesting of course. Thanks for the extensive reply! All very simple things to do, and I'm sure I could elaborate on it with planks, etc.Quote:
Awesome! I think I'm kinda far away from a six pack, but I'll check this out for sure!Edit: This requires equipment, but a cool site nonetheless! |

Glad you mentioned DDR! I need to get into that just because I know my cardio is shit. Without any good cardio, I can't do really well in wrestling or sex...period. I wish you luck with your workouts! |

what major muscle groups are neglected by pushups pull ups and sit ups? Chest, Triceps, shoulders, and core are worked by push ups Pull ups work Lats and biceps and sit ups duh....the only group not worked is the legs/lower back. you just have to do them right...factors to consider: speed of reps, order, rest/supersetting, intensity and varriations of exercises can get your ripped fairly quickly |

Go to a gym once and look at the posters they put up behind or beside the machines. Most of these exercises are possible to modify to use without machines. Frankly, it is not that hard. Run a bit, lift some heavy stuff, situps... If you are no going to run for Mr. World it really does not make such a big difference... |

Depends on the goal, If you want to look musclebound, do bodybuilding. You are shaped by what you do, so what you do will shape you. Train for performance, try out a new sport every week with a friend(s), varied training and training for a purpose other than aesthetics will make you healthier and make you look better anyway. |

Best workout you'll ever get...no gym, no machines, no cost, can be done almost anywhere: Parkour. google it. You'll not only work every single muscle in your body simultaneously but you'll challenge your mind as well. |

A lot of people need to cop the fuck on with their suggestions in this thread... like some dude with a bit of excess weight is going to go out and start Parkour in his town out of no where with no practice, no knowledge and nobody to do it with. The bodyweight excercises are a good suggestion. To loose weight you need to up your heartrate, so jogging/swimming etc, anything that gets you out of breath will have you losing weight. You tone up you need to do resistance training, thats everything that works your muscles. Heres a workout for you... Find you how many press ups you can do without stopping (called your max)... work out what 80% of that is and do that twice a day. Do that for 2 weeks and then test what your max is again... if its gone up by 10 or more then put a back pack on with 10KGs of weight in it and do the same number (the original 80%) for another two weeks... test again, and repeat etc etc. (if you dont go up by 10 or more on your max keep testing yourself weekly until you do... then add the back pack) A press up works your pectorial (chest) anterior deltiod (front of shoulder) and tricep (back of arm)... Great excercise for developing the EGO muscles (a beach bod look)... Also do One armed raises with the back pack. Put about 20KG of weight into the backpack. Put your right knee on a bench, with your left leg straight bend from the waist, hold the bag in your left arm with it hanging to the side of the bench. Lift the bag 15 times (or find 80% of your max) up to your rigcage and down to the full length of your arm, switch sides, repeat... do twice daily. This works your rombiods (centre on back) biceps (to an extent) posterior deltiods (back of shoulder) scaptula (upper outside of back) and lats (lower outside of back on the ribcage)... this should balance out your muscle tone against the press ups previous so your shoulders wont roll forward giving you that 'hunched'/unconfident look... It will roll your shoulders level so your chest will be out giving you an alpha male posture without conciously doing so. 30minutes cardio daily... more if you can do it. Avoid eating carbs. Do this for 4weeks, if you eat correctly and depending on how much weight you have to loose you could lose up to 15lbs... do it for 3months and most people would have a beach body to be proud of. NOTE: I didnt include any midriff excercises because EVERYBODY has a six-pack, they are the muscles that support your spine, if you didnt have a six pack you wouldnt be able to stand up straight. The hard part is losing the fat layers that cover a six-pack to make it visible, thats what the cardio does, burns fat. I didnt include lower body excercises because jogging and most cardio activities will take care of those muscles. |
