Post subject:  plaid out

The title is supposed to read "played out" which is a play on the word plaid. You know, the crossed vertical and horizontal stripped pattern clothing. Personally, I hate it. I know its a retro en vogue thing, but I am not coming around to it. I never bought into that Affliction/Ed Hardy bullshit with the fucking sequins and rhinestones and glitter, and I'm not going buy into this plaid phase either. I go out to the club and half the guys are wearing plaid prints, looking like broke down lumberjacks. And guys at my work are wearing the same plaid shirts every week, because they think it's so awesome that they can repeat and nobody will notice.

In a way its good because I have my own style which I think works for me, one I call "douchebag casual". So I'll always look unique and edgier than the plaid-wearing masses. If you are going to rock the plaid prints, I'd say do it judiciously and make it work with your entire outfit. If you are one of the many people who went out and loaded up your closet with plaid because you wanted to get on the bandwagon....hold your head down in shame!

If plaid looks good on you, then go for it. If it looks bad, then don't.

There's a difference between looking like you're following a trend, and looking like you're a man who knows how to get shit done. The difference is what you wear with it.

The beauty with plaid is that it's dressy and casual.

Nothing wrong with it if you find ones that fit your style.

Personally, I'm waiting for paisley to come back into style. It's gonna be huge. Then I'll stock up on a bunch of little amoeba prints, or whatever that stuff is, and wear it everyday!

Post subject:  Underwear

The only thing in my wardrobe that is plaid is my damn underwear and that is all that will ever be so. I hate all that fashion shit, that is supposed to be from the past and made hip again.

I think all those fashion gurus in LA, NYC or Paris probably just put that plaid type shit together to mock us clothing store shoppers. I've wanted some custom tailored clothes for a while anyway.

Worst thing though is the fashion of shitty tattoos. There are some cool tattoos one can get, but a lot of people get shitty and cheap ones. They are permanent. Glad that didn't become an obligation for style.

As far as the Ed Hardy style stuff. That was really annoying for a while where everyone had a heart/skull/explosion/fire/dragon design over their heart. Maybe some V-neck thrown in and some extra stitching. I did buy a few I must admit, but I did feel sort of stupid, seeing everyone had the same theme at the club.

As soon as I get some more disposable cash I'm gonna overhaul my wardrobe. It says so much about who you are and how tuned in and unique you are. Not interested in being one of the masses, but I still am.

Yea, the tattoo thing is absurd. People get entire paragraphs and song lyrics tattoed on themselves now. Facepalm.

The worst thing about this plaid phase is that every guy thinks they can just wear any old plaid shirt and their good. I was at Buckle the other day and the girl their was helping me pick out some outfits. She kept trying to get me to buy plaid shirts, despite telling her I didn't like plaid. But a couple of the ones she showed me were not that bad. They were alot more stylish than many of the plaid prints I see dudes wearing. The point is, you can do plaid but be selective and find really unique and stylish shirts. Don't just pick up the first plaid shirt you see at Super Target and throw it in your cart.
