Guys I have always been told that I speak low but in my perspective I almost scream! I am really getting fed up with people asking me to repeat. When in pubs I see some friends that don't have to speak loud to be understood. Their voice sticks out somehow. If I want to make myself clear I have to literally scream, its stupid. Any advice? Sing lessons? Voice therapist? Any information you need just say Yours, Slyzer |

I have the tonality problem sometimes...oral communication class in college really helped this gor me..the idea is to visualize that the person is not right infront of you..lets say across the room..you may think your yelling almost but if your a quiet demeanor person your voice will sound normal to everyone else..also changing your mindstate helps..shy unconfident people speak lowly and lightly (at least thats the perception)..so u want to have a confident also energetic mindstate ..i promise this lead to much better tonality! |

Oral communication lessons? Interesting. I will try to find that but I have never heard, probably I will try a voice therapist. Thanks a lot |

YA it was an elective in college..there was a strong emphasis on public speaking also..make sure you take it up if you havent already been to college. |

I agree with the earlier poster. What we perceive inside vs. what others hear outside can differ a lot. If you want to check that out, video tape yourself talking with someone. Try a lot of different things, including different voice volumes, and notice how they feel to you as you do them. Then go back and check out the tape. Notice where things seem different than they did internally? Likely, you could stand to talk a lot louder in order to stand out with your voice without seeming to be shouting. No substitute for practicing and calibrating this by recording yourself and testing. |
