Hey guys,

Copying the style of a celebrity (actor, musician, whatever...) is often a great way to increase your style.

I was wondering: which celebrity is your role model?

Aswering the following two questions might help some guys here to discover new styles that fit them:

1) which celebrity is your role model?
2) what have you done to look like him?

Thought it could be interesting and fun to know :D

I'll start myself:

1) Zayn Malik (one of the One Direction-guys: I know their music is kinda gay, but you can't deny those boys got style)

2) I've cut my hair into this kind of mohawk, I started wearing more shirts and vintage knitted sweaters, big scarfs, beige pants, boots, baseball-jackets and Ray-Ban glasses...

Actually i think it's great to 'borrow' from anywhere you can. Be it fashion, mindset, philosophy, frame or anything else. Take what you can. I personally like more of a formal style therefore Jude Law from actually anywhere (sp. Alfie). As thegift pointed out, Gosling from CSL has a great style too. Anything slimfit suits and a tie and i'm all in. It's important to feel free , do that and the rest will follow. From a mindset point of view... Whoever is alpha and has great inner game is an influence. Daniel Craig as 007, can't get more alpha than him.

Me, I'd rather be me than anybody else in the world. Once you realize this about yourself you'll have confidence. Fuck trying to be anyone else. Fuck trying to take someones style, catch phrase, or routine. Learn to be happy as yourself whether that is nice, mean, asshole, whatever, be yourself.

If you want good body language sure you can look at anyone of them and they all have the same elements. Different idiosyncratic behaviors but they all have wide stance, wide shoulders, head held high, loose confident movements, illustrators, etc.

Is it weird that I see you placing another man above you as a horrible idea when it comes to building confidence? Striving to want to be like a movie star or whoever else can lower your confidence because you are comparing yourself to something you'll likely never be (like a fictional movie character).

The best thing you can ever do for yourself is learn to be your best self, whether that is sporting suits, or shorts. Whether that is wearing punk, heavy metal, or hip hop attire, the point is to be you or you'll never be congruent or confident.

I hate to throw a wrench in these things, because I understand why you should strive for more but using movie stars and fictional characters as role models is incredibly stupid to me. PUA shouldn't become your life, all your lifestyle changes should be for you, and the rest will come after. Rather than dreaming of becoming that person, become that person and let others dream of being you.

If you want to learn body language yes you can look at movie characters, but as far as style, apparel, diction, I suggest you learn to be you rather than all that other shit. If you gain pieces of yourself from lots of different characters that would make sense because we are all a present collage of our past selves, but don't just copy somebody their style, diction, body language and voice. The more you try and be someone else the more you lose track of yourself. A big part of confidence is having direction, when you are busy being someone else you yourself don't have a direction really, you lose yourself, and never have actual confidence.

Nicely put. But it's not as much becoming someone else, it's about improving yourself. If a person is a shy one, he needs to absorb confidence from somewhere and a good place to start is a role model or a few. If i want to expand my wardrobe and i know my style i can watch what might look good on me from someone i know has a good style. Being yourself you still have got a bunch of influences who have made you who you are. Take whatever and whereever you can but make it your own.

I really like that line well put on your end.

I understand expanding your wardrobe but half the time I choose clothes unlike anyone else. My goal is to not be like anyone from a style standpoint. I never want to walk in a room and say oh shit same shirt, nope not me. I always stand out with my own style. Though I'm getting ready to formalize saving up for a bigger suit closet.

So I agree with you. I understand the though process to it but I just don't like the idea of trying to be someone else. There are tons of cool cats but idolizing "attractive guys" seems a little out of line because some of us will just never be as good looking as Brad Pitt (I know I won't lol), so it can be a horrible thing. It's like women being forced to compare themselves to super models, same stupid concept to me. It would be better to be fans of personalities such as Vince Vaughn who use wit, and humor to illustrate high value and build attraction even though they don't have shit (Dodge Ball). Just a few thoughts.

I did like the Hank Moody remark, he has character, intelligence, wit, and humor. His style is building attraction by merely illustrating the I don't care but lets just have a great fucking time attitude.

Tyler Durden fucked one trashy woman, it's not as if he was a real ladies man. So when you look at PUA using an asshole who bangs trashy women, has a severe psychosis issue, and is unrealistically attractive as a role model is a huge mistake. Why not look to guys like Tom Cruise in Cocktail, Vince Vaughn in Swingers or Wedding Crashers. Jason Stathom in The Italian Job. Simon Baker in Sex and Death 101. These are all guys who just have an attitude and seem to just get women with ease, with an attitude, they illustrate confidence perfectly. They also show how easy it is to build attraction using attitude and personality(though they are all still very good looking, there game is in there personality, confidence, and attitude).

I wrote up a bit about why I don't think Tyler Durden is really any of what you said considering he creates his own society(can't be high value with out a society), Fight Club isn't a comedy(he's not humorous), I don't see him as high value because he doesn't gain acceptance from society involving women, and of course he is completely in his own world he's a mental handicap.

While I agree that it's not about just getting laid your status and value is given by your value in society and among your social circle. Your social circle can't go on to be a full blown society without women, in fact all that happens is it dies out. Look at the low value men that seem to consider him a role model in the movie, hardly breath taking.

Just some thoughts I have on him.

thanks for the replies guys, it's very interesting to see where you get your inspiration from. excellent choises, I must say

And don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to BE someone else, I'm pretty happy with my own looks and clothing-style. But you can always improve yourself, right?
I just discovered a man (or actually a boy) with a -in my opinion- great taste in clothing, that would suit me as well. And so I "pimped" my wardrobe with some clothes in thesame genre.

I'm not some kind of obsessed freak who wants to copy his role model in every single aspect :wink:
