Post subject:  Going to the gym? Not so sure

I've been thinking about going to the gym, but i'm afraid the gym instructor won't get it. Basically I just want to know what kind of excercises i need to do to get ripped. I don't want to get bigger or anything, i had been fat for my entire childhood and adolescence. I got thiner at 19, did a lot of diets and started jugging, so i'm really trying to avoid that.

Gym's don't become successful by just churning out body builders. They become successful by giving people the image that they want.

Any good gym will give you access to personal trainers, if you explain the body image you want to achieve they will help you in every way they can, through both setting you routines and helping you to create a diet plan to achieve your look.

Go and speak to your gym, they won't bite and they'll be happy to talk you through their processes and how they'll help you achieve your goals BEFORE making you pay.

One piece of advice you need to hold in mind is that this is a lifestyle choice, you don't achieve what you want through lack of effort. Most people fail at training because they don't commit themselves 100%. You need to push yourself and stick to it rigidly to achieve your goals.

Good luck with training :)

in order to get ripped as you say you have to have a low body fat% which is mostly diet (genetics play a role) inorder to get muscle tone and defintion you need to work them to the point in which they need to adapt.

You have to talk to the instructor, about it.
Really, though, getting ripped is not a fast process. You can expect to START to see results within 2 to 4 months, it depends a lot of genetics.
If what you want is to grow some muscle, it takes a lot of dedication and hard work.
Getting a good body is 80% diet and 20% exercise, you can't expect to go to the gym, and be ripped in 4 weeks.
Just keep that in mind, it is a slow process, and its a lyfestyle.

I agree with most of the posts here...Going to the gym IS a lifestyle choice, just like being a PUA... If you want to play the game, then you have to pay the price.

On a more practical front, focus more on fitness and not to be ripped. Most girls I know prefer a guy with a little meat on their bones than to be ripped to the point there is no 'cushion' during sex.

If you want to keep the girls coming back after you lay them, focus on lasting...With me, I noticed that when I get a lot of cardio in my workout routine, my staying power is MUCH longer/stronger than if I don't... AND I get it up MUCH more frequently and faster than when I didn't include cardio in my excercise routine.

Overall, focus on fitness, with a healthy mix of weight training and cardio. If you are overweight, then get down to your ideal weight. Wear cloths that compliment your body and maintain a healthy lifestyle (healthy food, etc).

That will get you further than trying to get a ripped body plus its an attainable goal. Getting ripped is not very healthy either, since once your body fat gets below a certain point, other health problems start surfacing.

Best,

J-Dub
