Post subject:  Acne - Advice?

As the title says. I have acne and I don't know what to do about it!

I've tried many different products and stuff, but nothing seems to work. My dad says that my shaving cream maybe has something to do with it?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

I used to get it bad, I cut it down with a few things. First ditch the products, I know this sounds weird but putting that stuff on your face seems to do more bad than good, instead just wash it with water when you are in the shower. Milk and chocolate are also bad for it apparently.

Don't use exfoliators and prepare a shave properly (hot water to open pores, cream, shave with hair not against, wash of with warm water then wash with cool water then pat your face dry with a towel never rub).

Another biggy is sun, that seemed to help my face out and finally try not to stress over it I know that is hard advice but yeah stress makes it worse.

I've had fluctuating acne for the past 6 years and tried almost all of the natural home remedies. None seemed to work much better than the other, and I would put on zit cream before going out just to hope it would decrease in the next few hours.

What works for me at present is I got acupuncture SPAM and some prescription herbs. Using these twice a day or whenever I got time and washing my face with a natural acne wash I can keep it contained, to the point where there's only a few left on my face.

Acne dot org has a really good routine. Their secret is the use of benzoyl peroxide. They give guides for using their products or for using other products that you can find in your local store.

The regimen was a little too excessive for me, since I only have mild acne, so I only use the benzoyl peroxide for spot SPAM. I wash my face twice daily, with a very mild cleanser.

The most useful tip I've learned is to use a regular moisturizer instead of shaving cream and also shave with the grain. I don't get any breakouts caused by shaving when I do that.

Well, ive had acne really bad too.
What i did about it was to wash my face with ph 7(neutral) soap every day, in the morning and before going to bed.
Also i drank lots of water, preferably tea.
None of the medications, i got from the doctors, did any good, instead of draining the money out of my wallet.
With all that said, in the end the I recovered after approximatley 2 years of acne.
So I come to the conclusion that acne is just a puberty problem for most of the people...

btw. how old are you?
If you are still in your teenage years, it might go away after 1-2 years ^^

Proactive is a good way to control it however its expensive and it is very time consuming. What cleared me 95% was Roaccutane.

Now I know this drug has a lot of negative attention to it, but it does the job superbly. If you can deal with dry lips covered in Vaseline and dried out skin for a while then go for it. Im cleared from it and now only suffer from spots if I have a poor diet which is understandable.

proactiv is not for everyone, if you get it it may not work

but i noticed a change when i all together stopped using products and just washed my face in the morning .. when i showered.. and at night before bed.
and in between the day pat dry the oil from your face with a napkin or paper towel

best of luck

products can only help you temporarily suppress the problem. if you are really serious about getting it gone once and for all. here are few things to do, it sounds stupid but if you consistent for a month, i guarantee you result.

1. 8 cups of water a day, this is a must
2. Eat vegetable & fruit everyday
3. Sleep enough (around 8-9hours)
4. (optional but recommended) excercise everyday

1. keeps your internal body clean so the toxin go out from your pee instead of coming out from your face(in the from of oil). and if you are dyhydrated your skin cell don't regenerate as much.

2. veg gets your digestion improve, less oil on your face (btw the oil usually come from meat). fruit gives you vitamin which allow your skin's cell to regenerate faster

3. sleep = regenerate mechanism improve, your skin heal faster. keep your sleep regular as well and dont sleep way too much.

4. exercise stimulate cell regeneration, and your toxin are out from sweat as well

these are from my experience and have no scientific prove, but it worked so well, i use to have serious skin problem as well. hope it helps ;)

Your eating patterns and drinking all effect it.
Try not to have greasey or cokes.
Your best bet is to drink watet and eat good food... no fast food.

when i was in high school, i had severe acne. i tried all the products, proactiv, klear action, natures miracle, benzol peroxide, etc. i realized later on that i just had a nervous habit of touching my face a lot. i was constantly infecting my face with germs and bacteria. this also destroyed any chance of any product working as i would feel my face constantly to gauge how the product was working. just cutting out that one thing was huge. i also recommend a ph neutral toner anytime after you wash your face, and a moisturizing lotion as well. nivea for men has worked well for me.

I had bad acne up til a year ago and the best SPAM I found was any cream with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. I found this out off the website acne dot org
which go's into more detail about how to use it. Also try to drink at least 2 litres of water a day, have a decent diet with as little junk food/takeaways as possible
and try to have a regular sleep pattern with 7/8 hours a night minimum. If you live near the sea I think seawater is one of the best things for your skin, and get
lots of, but not too much, sunshine if you can.

Hey I suffered from severe acne and I mean SEVERE since I was a teen, Im now 20 years old and the majority of it has gone away with no medication. However I am left with horrible "Dents" and red scars on my skin, I use to get really self-consious on the beach, swimming, etc as I have it really bad on my back/chest.

Recently I thought why should I give a shit about what other people think? I accept the way I am, I can't change it. I have recently taken up swimming again, which I used to avoid. It's a catch 22 because the chlorine in the pool is really good for spots.

And if your worrying about what girls think, I'v had some laugh at me in the past (I took it seriously, because I saw myself in the same way that they saw me) If you see yourself In a positive light, nothing anyone says or does will affect you.

Final note - My Gf couldn't care less :)

Post subject:  Accutane

In highschool I had Extreme/Severe Acne, im talking like blood crusting all over my face, no joke. It was scary... I still have scars on my face altho they are pretty faint, the ones on my body piss me off more to be honest.

But now i have completely clear skin, really jacked cause I workout everyday and eat healthy healthy healthy...im one handsome mother fucker.

Firstly, diet/exercise will help and those things you CAN control... but A LOT of it is heriditary. Both my parents had terrible acne and "I tried everything but nothing worked". I started looking into harder drugs (haha) and found Accutane.

If used properly, this clears acne 98% of the time and its ONLY for severe acne. It comes in the form of pills, works on an 8 month cycle if I can recall and there are a lot of things you have to be really careful about (like you cant drink alcohol otherwise you will murder your liver, no pregnancies etc.) Accutane is really strong, but when taken properly you will be so thankful. Look into it, talk to your dermatalogist if your acne is that bed, and just DO IT.

Honestly, proactive and all that crap never worked for me- it was just too weak, its meant for mild acne.

However, i went on accutane TWICE because the second time a pimple came back and i didnt keep my skin clear and my acne slowly started to come back (like maybe MILD at most, few pimples around the cheeks/forehead). So make sure even when your done keep your face and skin clear!
