Post subject:  High BMI for men found more attractive???

Warning - vague pondering about research result coming.

According to "what makes you click" paper (first google hit, I cannot link), which measured who people actually first-contact on online dating (and people first-contact most attractive people most, not much shyness was found), men like short women with bmi around 17 most, while women like tall men with bmi around 27 (it's a random sample, so very few of them have actually that much muscle, so women like somewhat fat men).

The main reason seems to be pattern of men wanting women as thin as possible, and women wanting men of similar bmi to theirs. After reading the entire paper a few times, I believe this result might be true, and not result of some research artifact. I asked the guy who wrote the paper if he could provide me with detailed breakdown by woman weight, but didn't get a response.

What do you think of this? I'm at supposedly unattractive bmi 22 and I definitely don't intend to get fat just because of that, maybe I'll get some extra muscle. Does it simply mean that thin women will want me, and fat won't? I can live with that ;-). Or will getting more muscle lose my chances with slim women?

Honestly, it's probably one of those "feel good" surveys. Most girls I know like fit guys. They don't necessarily like someone with 6% BF or otherwise extremely ripped/muscled, but not someone fat either. My guess is around the 15% mark?

Honestly, you should be comfortable with your size. Attraction can be built regardless of what you look like. It's a mental game. If you are confident, it doesn't matter at all!

A better looking you in u'r own mind brings confidence too... u don't have to be >10% to be considered ripped but as long as u feel good about u'r body then its already made u confident.

Obviously that study is flawed. First, of all BMI isn't the best calculation to use when figuring out fat. Its based on your height and weight and doesn't take how much muscles you have into consideration. If you are an athlete with little body fat you might be considered overweight according to the BMI. Therefore, the guys with a BMI 27 really might be muscular not fat. Not to mention that 17 for females is anorexic. I would say attractive/fit girls would tend to have a BMI around 20-22 range.
