What do you think works best, I'm quite new to this excercise. Is dumbells or barbell better for muscle growth? Also what can you do for balance? I havent fallen over or anything but Im aware that you could quite easily go forwards or backwards with it.

THIS!! lol

But if your new, dumbbells will help build the stabilizers, and correct any muscle imbalances that you naturally have. If you have weak core muscles, use a bench with a backrest, as this will help ensure better form.

Why not do them standing, military-press style?
I do them with dumbbells standing up, but also try them with a barbel with a close grip; i hear it's awesome.

1. Do them standing as it allows you to brace your whole body which will stop you from over extending your spine on those last couple of reps.

2. Dumbbells will build your stabilizing muscles so if your starting out I would recommend using these. However Barbell will allow you to lift more weight and ultimately allow you to pack on more size.

Do 8 weeks of dumbells, then swap them for the barbell.

Any more questions let me know, I'm a professional weight loss coach and help a lot of guys in the gym.

Thanks friend for this post on barbell or dumbell and also on the powerblock elite. Learning on this elite block have been highly informative. I hope to get more insights and information on this though, keep me posted.
