Post subject:  Multivitamins, Protein Powder- Adverse Effects

So,
I have adverse effects whenever I try to be healthy and take multivitamins or protein powder. They both seem to mess w/ my 'head/state'. I was wondering if anyone else out there has these problems, or suggestions of what I could do?

When I take multivitamins, something in me changes, and it makes me more in my head, super lethargic and confused, and really tired. With protein powder, I get in my head as well, but feel a lot of anxiety, derealization, and just unable to relax or have a sense of humor. Everything is serious. With both of them, my state completely changes.

When I am in state, I have pretty decent game, I have been working at this stuff really consistently for the past 6 months. A handful of f-closes, kiss closes, and lots of number closes. However, my life is incosistent because I suffer from chronic fatigue. I've been to all sorts of doctors and can't seem to find any help for it, or advice.

Please, do Not tell me it is all in my head. I got soo sick of hearing that bullshit from doctors. I study game, inner game, and self help all day. I do affirmations, and there is a significant difference when you put something into your body and have a legitimate "chemical reaction" that messes w/ ur mental outlook and energy levels.

Anyway, if I could get my health and chronic fatigue figured out, I would soar w/ this stuff. But, the fact is, I can get all these girls, but I can't keep them in my life because I am not the 'man' day in and day out. I suffer from fatigue and maybe bipolar and am just really inconsistent. It gets me down, a lot. Any help/advice would really be appreciated.

Thanks,
Casual/Prana

I'm not a doctor but I do know a lot about nutrition. Can you tell me exactly what it is you're taking, like post pictures of the containers and the labels so I can read them? Also, what time do you take them and how long before or after meals?

Also, do you have any kinds of food allergies, or allergies of any kind? Anything could be applicable.

Finally, what is your diet on a typical day? Be very specific, I want exactly what you eat and how much. Keep a journal for a day if you have to before you answer. Also, how much exercise do you get a day? A week? What is your typical routine?

I am asking, what can I do to help my fatigue? I try to help myself and health by taking supplements, but they always seem to mess me up worst.

Example, this morning I was super 'in state', expressive, just fine and normal. I got to my work, was talking to everyone and having fun... Right before work (on the ride there), I chugged down a glass of water w/ a 'dissolvable' vitamin tablet in it. About 45 minutes later, my Expressiveness, thinking, state, and just everything completely changed.

The change was not due to anything external, I was happy and having a good time. The change occurred because that 'vitamin' kicked in. After it kicked in, I just felt extremely "off". I couldn't think clearly, and I couldn't smile. I went from being a PUA trained Boss, joking and flirting w/ everyone, to being unable to even smile or think, and having a negative energy cloud follow me around. People went from gravitating towards me, to gravitating away from me. (this happens w/ me a lot. People that see me consistently never know what to expect from me)

Anyway, here is my normal diet/day:

Breakfast
-3 scrambled eggs w/ chopped up garlic/onion, and a tortilla. Maybe a clemintine or Bannana w/ Peanut Butter
-Grab a coffee

Go to the Gym. Do essentially 2 lifts for 2 muscle groups. Ex: Biceps and Triceps. Db Curls and St Bar curls. Dips and Overhead Press.

Lunch:
-A sandwich w/ lunch meat, tomatoe, lettuce, maybe avocado. Or, some type of leftovers.

Go to Work as a Server, run around burning Calories there.

Dinner:
Some type of Chicken pasta dish from work. Or, like a bowl of Chili.

I don't think I get in enough Calories in a day. I'm just over 180 at 6'1", I used to be about 200lbs when I was playing HS sports. I just don't have the appetite or desire to eat much anymore.

I sleep for about 10-11 hours each night, around 2am to noon. I almost always feel fatigue and run down. Hence why I read up on and try to take all sorts of Vitamins to help me, but everytime it's the same story. I start taking the vitamins, or fish oil, or protein powder, and have extreme Adverse affects to them. Something chemically changes in me, and I can't relax or think clearly anymore.

I know that may sound weird, but it is the truth. And, it is not some type of 'sugar pill' or 'placebo' affect, it happens, I am not delussional in that sense.

Thank you for responding and trying to help you all.

http://nuun.com/products

*That's a link to the product I took this morning. If you scroll down a bit, it has all the label information and Vitamin amounts. I took: NUUN All Day

I have literally tried all different types of brands of vitamins and proteins, and have yet to find stuff that doesn't mess w/ me.

If I take "fish oil" in a pill, nothing crazy happens, I'm just mentally slow and very unexpressive for that day and maybe the next. However, if I take "Chia Seeds" or "Flax seed" and throw it in a smoothie, I don't notice anything. And, I know in the long run the Omega 3s I am getting are helping me.

I can take subligunal form of B vitamins and I am fine, I don't really notice anything, which to me is a good thing.

I am leaning towards trying to get stuff in the most 'natural' forms that I can. But, I just don't have the time, budget, or effort to do it all through food like I should be.

Well one thing I would suggest right off the bat is that you take any supplement directly after you eat, otherwise your body won't digest it properly. For example, I take a multivitamin every morning after breakfast. If I take it without food, wait to long after eating, or take it too early, I feel nauseous and tired. If I take it immediately after I eat, I'm fine.

Another thing I noticed is that none of those vitamin supplements contain the necessary daily values. Try taking http://www.swansonvitamins.com/country- ... 0-veg-caps, it's the best multivitamin on the market, all-natural, and only costs around $10 for 60 tablets. Also, make sure whatever you are taking is iron free. All vitamin supplements come in an iron and iron free bundle. Iron is necessary for women because they lose iron every time they menstruate. Men, on the other hand, get more than enough iron in our diet, and our bodies don't have a reliable way of excreting extra iron. Having too much iron can literally poison your body, so it's possible that is what your problem is.

I also think it's very likely you aren't eating enough, and it looks like your diet is very low on carbs, which is bad if you want to have energy. I'm not going to tell you exactly how much you should eating in terms of fats, proteins, and carbs, because I'm not a nutritionist and I don't want to give you wrong advice. But, I would suggest seeing a nutritionist and see if you can sort your diet out.

It's also possible that you are over sleeping. 10-11 hours a day is actually too much, you really should be getting about 7-9, depending on what works for you.

That's all I see right now, but I would also again suggest talking to a nutritionist and/or a doctor to see if they have any more expert advice.

Well multivitamins and protein are very important for our health we need a specific amount of it on daily basis.
But the source should be natural, the protein powder and all these pills are scary and they have huge side effects.
Always prefer natural food for all these things there is nothing like natural and it has no side effects.

I agree that natural foods are better then processed food but I have never heard anyone experiencing these symptoms off protien and a multi.

I am pretty sensitve to a lot of stuff such as caffiene, hangovers and poor nutrition so I know this feeling you mention. You might be taking cheap products. Protein is basically a by product of milk. Maybe you have some issues with diary? Do you drink coffee in the mornings? The multi might have natural stiulants you're sensitive to. Some stimulate dopamine production causing you burn out later in the day.

Aww, I agree w/ everything you are saying here.... I definitely don't eat enough, and I definitely sleep too much. The really hard part about that though is I don't feel well enough to remedy all of that. I feel soo fatigue I can't get out of bad, so I oversleep.

Then, when I am up, I have no appettite, and then I don't make the right type of food or enough of it. I wish I had the money to see a good nutritionist, but my parents have 'cut me off' and I am always broke now.

I am going to try to that multivitamin tho, and w/out the iron. It is cheap enough I will definitely give it a shot. Nutrition is soo hard... and I agree w/ all of you about getting protein and vitamins from natural sources, and I really try to. It's just, my life has been really out of sorts the past 5 years or so. I am honestly just proud that I am still living and breathing today, not in jail, working a job, and trying to get better...whether or not it is possible.

I really have no idea how I pull 8s and 9s sometime w/ my life being in such disarray. But, I understand why they don't stick around.

Thanks for the continued advice and thoughts All.

it's unlikely that protein isolate or a multi are causing you to feel this way, are you sure it's not something else?

it's more likely you are either, not getting enough sleep, getting too much sleep, eating too much fat or not eating enough carbs, not eating enough food or have a vitamin or mineral difficencency (most likely vitamin d if that is the case since it matches your symptoms)

go see a doctor and ask for a blood test, tell him/her your problem

cardio can also help raise energy levels overall, so can eating cleaner more complex carbohydrates
