Yoga is definitely one of the best exercise. The use of incense may add to the benefits, incense is an important tool which can help awareness as well as promote energy and concentration. The presence of incense creates a favorable SPAM which calms the mind and makes it suitable for enjoying the exercise experience.

Whilst I'm sure yoga has a lot of uses in terms of movement and muscular regeneration, is it really one of the best for weight loss? Given that weight loss is entirely about having a calorie deficit, I'd have thought any sort of more strenuous cardio was more useful for burning more calories, and doing some form of weight routine would be more useful for "toning" than weightless yoga movements.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying yoga is bad or that people shouldn't do it; I'm sure it has a lot of health benefits, and of course ANY exercise is better for weight loss than NO exercise at all. However, I can think of quite a few exercises that would probably be more effective for weight loss.

Of course yoga is the best exercise for our health and fitness.
It improves both physical and mental health.
It regulates the circulation of blood in whole body,
controls the blood pressure, prevents from heart problems,
handles the stress, and depression.

Does it burn more calories than a 10k run?

I can do everything on that list, weight lifting.

Yoga is good for balance, flexibility, muscle tone, and calming yourself to connect the body/mind/spirit through meditation exercises/poses. It can be a very good workout if done correctly. I recommend learning it with an instructor to avoid injuries. Usually, when you take a yoga class, the room is littered with hot women in skimpy yoga outfits. This was my experience with yoga in college anyways.

There are several styles. The style you guys are probably thinking of is called Bikram (hot) yoga, in which you do poses in a room akin to that of a sauna. By the end, you are dripping wet from head to toe. I am sure it burns a beastly amount of calories. There are many many different styles though. I am primarily familiar with Hatha yoga.

Yoga to lose weight is an extremely gentle method to stretch and tone your body and causes it to be suppler again. Yoga is probably not the best choice exercise-wise if you wish to lose weight fast and mainly through exercising, but yoga will help you moving toward a slimmer plus more toned body. Yoga weight reduction means slimming down that stays off, if you keep practicing yoga after slimming down.

Guys I am really just mind blown with "yoga is good for tonning"

That was made up by fitness magazines to not scare women away. When you Tone your body you lose fat and build muscle. Telling women they will build muscle scares them away, it is a marketing trick.

There is no diffrence in muscle, if you work it out it gets bigger. If you lose fat you see the muscle "cuts". To make your muscle have a deeper cut you need to make it bigger or lose the fat in the cut.

Yoga or any excersise is not magical way to make your muscles diffrent, if you want to tone your body you need to diet and workout. Weight lifting is still superior than yoga for looks.

Aging causes the lower release of certain intestinal support minerals. Elderly people also tend to be lacking in the micronutrient supplement B12 unless on a supplement. Vitamin B12 needs acid in the abdomen for intake.

You fuckers that are dissing yoga... have you ever even tried it? It can be BRUTAL on your muscles. Sometimes I'd rather be in a room of hot women bending over in down dog pose than a gym full of meatheads grunting and groaning like they have bowel problems from hemorroids. There are several different types of muscle fibers. Please stop discounting exercises you know little to nothing about and/or have experienced that have been proven effective.

I do weights, cardio, martial arts, AND yoga (or tai chi) to balance out my body. I don't see weights training your body to be supple and flexible. I train myself for performance, endurance, and strength as well.

Who is "dissing" yoga? I think most people are saying it can of course have some benefits. However, the initial post claims that yoga is one of the best exercises for weight loss. Anyone who knows anything about the mechanics of weight loss will accept that yoga isn't really one of the best exercises to stimulate it; weight loss is all about calorific deficit, and therefore exercises that burn the most calories will be the best for weight loss. Whilst yoga has certainly got many positives that have been discussed above in some of the posts, why come on here and speak falsifications? I can name a hell of a lot of exercises that burn more calories (and therefore help to lose more weight) than yoga.
