Post subject:  Best way to DHV with GUITAR

This is actually something that really bothers me, even outside the whole P.U.A. thing. I started playing guitar back when I was like 7. I'm 18 now and without wanting to sound too cocky.. I'm a fucking master of guitar xD

I'm not the usual guitar player who only focus on solos and shredding and shit, I like more technical music, by the likes of Fall of Troy ( see this guy to have an idea of what I can play:

The only part that sucks is that almost no one knows about this talent of mine. Only a few close friends... I never really got into a band because no one in my town really gives a shit about instruments and the few that do are already living out of town.

My question is, how can I use this talent to impress women ( and also the other people, of course). I mean, the quickest way would be to play to them a few well-known acoustic songs, but then nobody would really know what I'm capable of.

Cheers

Guys picking up girls with guitars is too cliche.
That what every guy will be doing in college. This is how I feel when I see assholes playing their guitars in public trying to impress girls:

Ahah Animal House, gotta love that movie!

Anyway, of course that clip had nothing to do with what I pretend. I just need a little exposure, so I don't need to say "Hey, you know, I play the guitar and stuff".

You live in a dorm? Have your guitar in your room.
My friends in high school always (which I hated btw) always carried their guitars everywhere they went. Then they'd start jamming and it'd be my cue to leave.
Sure, you'll become one of the guitar carrying douchebags, but you'll get girls easily out of it.

SOUL_FIGHTER, I'm with you on the "douchebag" label. I don't really identify myself with those guys.

Hey man, I understand you about hating these guitar carrying douchebags, but really, I don't think you can DHV with a guitar, except when you play live gigs. Really, if you're serious, I think you'll relate also when I'll speak of hours spent crooked over a wooden shaft practicing hours and hours of scales and licks with the only sound of a metronome to keep you entertained. If you see guitar in the serious way, like if you study music, I hope you understand that, even if we rock on stage, nobody sees that we just gave a lot of time dedicated to this shit, and that our social life suffered a lot from it. Cheers me up to say that we're musicians first, then we're PUAs :P

Thanks for the awesome videos. I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now. (I even have a kanji tattoo that means "guitar" in like Chinese or Japanese). Personally, I don't practice guitar as much as I should. I have fucked a few chicks due to my guitar playing though...

About 3yrs ago, I was looking at all the highest rated guys on hot or not. They were all pretty close. But there was one guy that was about 100k points above everybody. Just by far, way more votes.

He had long hair, tatts, and was holding an old Les Paul in both hands like it were a baby, and his prized possession. He had a healthy body, was about 6'3", and modestly handsome facial looks. But, was way ahead of chip & dales looking guys. So just be creative.

After seeing this I posted a pic, in a similar pose with my snowboard. Of course I didn't hit the hottest guys list, but the quality of women that clicked "meet me" went up.

So irl, show off your skills. Get a stand in your living room and have it featured as a usable decoration. Come up with some gambits.

Leave it sitting on your couch ready to use when hb comes over for drinks or what not. Pick if up as if you accidentally left it there. Play a chord or two, then ask do you play? She'll say no, probably then show her how tp hold it and play a chord.

My 2 cents on this situation:

Most girls (and people in general) do not have very good ears for music. You can be playing the hell out of your guitar, but most girls would probably be more impressed if you covered a very simple song they know.

Furthermore, most girls like guys in bands NOT because they are musically inclined, but because they hold so much power by being on stage, being the center of attention, and eliciting reactions from so many people.

I'm in the same situation as OP, since I've been playing guitar for years and am really good, but am not in a band. What I have found is that you cannot rely on your guitar playing skills (no matter how good) to attract girls. You must build up attraction first, and then use your guitar playing to seal the deal.

Like others have said, have your instruments in your house on display. After a night out with a girl, where you have been building attraction, kino, etc., get her back to your place. You might have mentioned to her that you play, but don't talk about it too much because you don't want to overhype yourself. Chances are that as soon as she sees your guitar she'll ask you to play her something.

As cliche as it is, and as much as it won't showcase your full talents, acoustic songs are probably the way to go. Most girls are gonna be more impressed if you play a lyrically soulful song than if you play something full of technically proficient musicality and depth. Remember, girls are about emotion, and most girls aren't going to feel much emotion without lyrics.

Again, I don't care if you're Jimi Hendrix, your guitar playing won't instantly attract most girls unless you're in a band. Instead, use it as something that will surprise a girl after you've been building up a rapport with her already. Girls love mysterious guys, and if towards the end of the night, you all of a sudden come out of nowhere with some songs for her on acoustic guitar, she'll be extremely impressed and will also wonder what else you have up your sleeve.

Use your guitar playing to surprise her with your talent after building up rapport, and focus more on songs that will make her feel emotional than on songs that will showcase your full technical proficiency of the instrument.

Also, DO NOT be one of those guys who carries guitars around hoping to pick up chicks. Most of the time these guys will sit behind their guitars all night, rarely having social interactions. They expect that eventually chicks will come up to them because of their playing, but in reality, most girls are going to find them as providing background noise at best (and as annoying at worst), and they're gonna end up going home with a guy working his game instead of the dude banging on his six string.
