| Post subject: | Help me decide on a major/career choice |
Im at the point in my life where I have to decide what I want to do for a living for the rest of my life. I want something that pays well, takes little effort, isnt monotonous and can be used as a DHV in field. Ive talked to the counselors and advisors at my college but they didnt really help narrow it down. Im leaning towards business MIS, but my math skills arnt the best. I am really good at English and Philosophy but I dont want to be a teacher. I wanted to be a helicopter pilot for a while, but I dont know if I want to do it for the rest of my life. |

Do what you love doing and do it for free and then money will follow. If money doesn't follow, who cares you're doing what you love. I'm at a point in my life where I hate my job because it is not what I am passionate about. So I've taking action and with the money I've saved I've bought a shitload of sound and light gear and I'm going to hire it out to people for partys. I don't care if it doesn't make money to start with, infact I'm prepared to offer people such low prices they wont be able to refuse. It's just what I love doing, setting up sound and lights and having friggin awesome partys! If only I had done this straight out of school I wouldn't have wasted so much time. So do what you love and you will never look back. |

hey man I feel ya, i have been in that same situation for longest as i can remember, never knowing what i want in life, i dont have much hobbies either, i did thought about alot of things that i could be, (with parents pressuring me, im 21), i even came to the conclusion of joining the army, but that didnt work out, got rejected, o well lol Currently im working my way to become a DJ, i love music, and thats the only thing that comes before anything i enjoy doing in life, so, if youre passionate about something, anything, just go for it, use that passion to succeed and eventully you will If you're interested in women, like the rest of us, sure u could study psychology and become a master at it, teach people ect, actully i have thought about that but yeah its all up to you man, just think about what you enjoy doing and stick with it. Since we are in such a challenging economy, I would suggest researching careers that have projected growth and go from there. |

people say do what u love but its hard to do that when you have bills to pay so unless your the die hard its all or nothing type, i say pick a job that will give you safety but on your spare time find out about doing something you love on the side and then decide if u wanna take that risk but i say make a safety net.i hate college but a degree will get u a job and even with a degree u will notice jobs dont really look into your major just a 4 year degree in general if u look it up alot of people dont even have jobs that fits the degree they have.plus dont mess with those crazy ass loans if college is not your passon i seen so many people get a dregrees in jobs they dont like or degree that dont pay and have up 40 thousand to pay back unless u get a degree in something you love really try to avoid loans i only mention college because thats what your doing but also dont need a degree to make a living if you just need a job for a safety net till you find what you love i just say this cuz i feel that i was brainwashed into college cuz people make you feel like its a degree or nothing so people go just to go.good luck |
