It seems that everyone is on either facebook or bebo or myspace or whatever. I am not - I chose to avoid them, because I prefer my privacy. But I'm starting to think it's a great social networking tool. But then again, instant message (like MSN) and email also serve me pretty well. |

IMO nowadays not having a facebook is like not having a cell phone... it's kinda weird |

I love your threads Legion, always interesting stuff. Social networks are useful. Thats all that I have to say about them. I have a friend that has no facebook, and he seems to be OK. But he misses a lot of social events becasue he is not aware of them. Besides I think he doesnt have a Facebook account because he thinks he is too cool for it... he is a bit af a rebel without a cause, so he wont sing up on any social network because he just feels an urge to be different. I sense a bit of a personality problem there, its the kind of guy that only does (or doesnt) stuff to be "cool". I use FB a lot because it is useful, I have fun checking out pics of my friends, and I love busting balls on people's walls. Having or not having a profile doesnt makes you cool, or gets you laid. You can get laid either way. |

Not sure about the other two but you can set your profile to private on MySpace and only add those that you know.I am not - I chose to avoid them, because I prefer my privacy. Personally I have an MS and an FB account though I barely ever check the Facebook one. |

facebook is very customizable for privacy. you can choose not to have your profile indexed by search engines so even if someone googles your name, it won't show up. this was good for me because i didn't want my relatives finding me on there. the cell phone analogy is a pretty good one, and facebook has been good for staying in touch with girls I hooked up with. A buddy of mine uses it this way a lot. The only people I know who don't have facebook accounts are either married or engaged. things that make you go 'hmm...' |

I only do facebook because it is good for keeping in touch with my friends that are far away from me and of course girls too. having any kind of social networking profile can be a dhv because u can have pics of you having fun and doing cool shit for girls to look at in your profile. |

I used to be the same, I just didn't feel the need for it, I was always around common areas @ college (the pub, namely), at home, or had my cell on me. But then i had a buddy of mine point out that "hey, with facebook, you can add all those old friends from elementary school, and hook up with the hot ones." As crude as it was, I laughed, but agreed that he had a point. I gave it a try, and I'm still on it, but now that I'm not an AFC as bad as i used to be, I don't just add people anymore. If they want the privilege to look me up, they have to earn it (at least, for chicks anyways). Now i just use it to catalogue my nights out, get the pictures from friends, and keep track of all those parties and events.

I only started to use it once I got to college. I mainly use it to keep up with when and where parties are going down. I dont really see why not having one would affect your game though. |

No, and I seem to be paying for it. Girls always ask if I have a facebook. It doesn't inhibit my game, but I keep thinking I'm out of the loop. I still agree with Legion though, I prefer my privacy. |

Facebook is just hotmail, but a lot better. That's all. Its not some sort of exclusive cyber-network-youth-club-cult-thing where everyone sits around and wacks off to Lilly Allen demotapes, like the press love to babble on about. Its a tool, and a very useful one at that. Wouldn't 'Game' through it though. But that's mainly 'cause my Mum is in my friends list. |

It is quite a good tool to have but after a while it gets boring and it makes you feel like you have always had it. Anyway why should the thread be locked? |

I didn't use Facebook at first. I hated social networking sites. It's just a fad, social networking will remain in society but facebook will most probably be replaced by a new social networking site. I remember all my friends telling me to get "hi-5", I finally get it, and they all switch to myspace...fuck. I finally get myspace and learn how to use it, a month later everyone goes onto bebo...fuck. I get a bebo, learn how to use it, on to facebook...fuck. Around this time I just said fuck it and decided to to move onto facebook no matter how many bullshit emails I got from my friends. And no matter how many times they told me in person to get it. But I have since learned that it is an asset in pick up. You don't even need to number close anymore. If you know a girl who's a friend of a friend, chances are she has a fucking facebook. (Although I prefer number closes) But you can't believe how many girls I've met on there who I have known but never kept in contact with. |
