Hi community, I´ve now finished Swedish high school and this fall I´m starting in a university in Stockholm (no campus, just a school). It´s a pretty small school (around 1500 students). I´m not after sleeping with many girls there, I just want to get as many friends and connections as possible, be it guys or girls. My question for you guys is therefore: what are some tips for me to get to good and socially skilled friends in university? Ideally, I want to get to know everyone as soon as possible Thanks in advance, |

I would suggest getting involved with clubs around your university. For me, I enrolled in physical education classes, got into clubs I was interested in like the psychology club, ballroom dance club, club sports, etc... I tried for a fraternity or 3 as well, but they were too much into just partying and were not really into studying much. That did work out for me so well. Thus, I recommend joining activities which you find enjoyable around your school. Have fun. -Chicoman |

Getting involved early is key for university - everyone is in the same boat at the start. If you're in with the crowd from the off, you make stories together and make bonds, which everyone is trying to make. If you're sat in your room for the first semester and then try to start making friends, everyone else has already got a group and you then not only have to try and work your way into that group, but everyone is also thinking you're a bit strange for having been locked away for so long. In terms of the actual relationship making, it is, to an extent, similar to the 'comfort' phase of pick up. Friendships are ultimately just being comfortable around a group of people who you enjoy spending time with. So be yourself, be funny, don't be shy etc. etc. Just be bright and enjoy yourself. If you're enjoying yourself, others will enjoy spending time with you. |
