When I say poor, I mean to say financially, as in cash-in-your-pocket, lack of money, dough, moolah.

Get a door-to-door sales job.

Start selling. Even if it's commission only. In this economy, the ability to sell is just golden. And you'll quickly build the skills that will serve you for the rest of your days in this life. 90% of selling is just learning to get past the "No, I'm not interested". You quickly get to understand facial expressions and body language behind a person's words. You'll know when to move on to the next door, unhindered, unmoved, unchanged... and when to pause, smile and say something like "That's funny you're not interested. You know the last person who said that to me quickly changed their mind when I told them why we are different."
