As the title says one of my hobbies is doing the Rubik's cube in under 25 seconds, but here is my question: Is it an attractive hobby or does it look nerdy? |

It looks nerdy. You don't have to be inteligent to fc models. I were once quite successful chess player and it never helped me to fc. When will you fc 1-2 new chicks/week on 1-2 meeting, you can do rubik's cube collect stamps or whatever. I don't say it can't be attractive, there are situations where it can be, but IMHO to learn how to take advantage from that you have to learn to use the simplest things first. IMHO, when one can fc in 2500 seconds, he can use rubik's cube as an advantage. But maybe I'm wrong try and find it out on your own. If doing rubik's cube under 25 sec. helps you to fc, than do it in 10 sec. |

I'd say that's more of a party trick than a hobby. If you spend hours a day trying to improve your time, then it's not particularly attractive. However, if you can bring it out at a party and impress people with it, then it's working in your advantage. Utilise it that way. But in terms of an attractive hobby - well, there are certainly better ones out there! |

Dude if you like doing it then do it. Big key in looking cool is giving 0 fucks about what people think of you. |

Posters above are correct in that if you enjoy doing it, then you shouldn't care and should do it anyway. Like I said above, it's actually a pretty good party trick that can show off some serious brain power, which is always a good thing. However, if it is the ONLY hobby or activity that you do, then it's not really overly attractive. I mean what do you do with a rubiks cube other than sit in your room, alone, trying to beat your own score? Nothing wrong with that - no different to me loading up the Xbox every now and again. But you want to try and tie it in with something a bit different - and that does depend on you and what you enjoy, but try to get something a bit more sociable. Maybe a sports team, maybe a cooking class, or something like that. Whatever really, but try to complement an impressive, brain-boosting but individual activity like your rubiks cube, with something a bit more sociable and you've got the best of both worlds. |

In fact I've made a lot of money with it. When I see a cube in a friend's house I say: "Oh, I've never tried it, but it seems pretty simple, I bet you $10 that I do it in 1 minute or less..." and that's on

Dude if you like doing it then do it. Big key in looking cool is giving 0 fucks about what people think of you.
Pretty much this.
Ditto! But using as a party trick is a good idea... personally i think its seriously alpha because there are very few who can do it... But then i find running exploits on vulnerable systems exciting... even still when i tell a women this i make it exciting... i believe your frame of it will set the tone. i.e i work in IT is unsexy... I'm an employed corporate hacker, hired by banks to fix security flaws bla bla vastly more interesting! depends on frame. |

Kudos to you for your time! I can solve one but it takes me a bit longer than 25 seconds. Agree with everyone above. It's a pretty sweet party trick and I usually have one hanging around my living room unsolved for just that purpose. It can be a good way to initiate or escalate some kino. I actually just used one for just that purpose Monday night with a girl that came over to hang out. You don't even need to finish it for it to work. I put mine aside half finished and told her "We'll finish that the next time you come over". Just make sure you're not solely relying on the puzzle as the only thing in your repertoire. |

eh seems kinda nerdy to me, I'm sure you can pick up something else more interesting, I would recommend doing some card or magic tricks, everyone love a good show that provokes mystery and awe. |
