| Post subject: | Monthly Improvement Thread: November (Help needed!) |
I've decided to start a thread in which I post daily updates on my progress towards monthly goals: obviously I'm starting this mid-November so it won't be quite so far-reaching but nonetheless, I aim by the end of the month to have made progress into the following areas of my lifestyle: I'll update this daily as to my progress. I'd really appreciate if members of this forum could critique/make suggestions relating to the list! 1. I need to start showing my girlfriend that I care more. I aim to do this by calling her for at least 10 minutes every day, unless I see her that day. I'm also going to take her out for a film and a meal by the end of the month, as well as go for a walk with her for a few hours through the nearby woods. 2. Hanging around with the same people is getting repetitive. I'll try and expand my circle of acquaintances by spending more time outside of school with my friends from my new Sixth Form, and will have at least one jam session with these musicians that I've made friends with. 3. I'll learn some more popular recognizable songs (amongst my age group) so that when I do play guitar with other people around, they can better connect to me. Suggestions for what songs to learn would be most welcome! 4. I'll have turned the £300 in my Forex spread-betting account into at least £400 by the end of the month. 5. I hope to organise a two-day cycle ride for charity in the next 4-5 months, so I need go for at least an hour cycle 3 times a week minimum. 6. Organise weekly yoga classes at the local leisure centre in order to both relax and build focus. 7. Start making inroads into learning French; ask for Rosetta Stone (or similar - recommendations?) for my birthday and watch French films with English subtitles. 8. Buy some books on cold reading, meaning of colours and palm reading (anyone have any that they like?). 9. Get ideas on other useful lifestyle books/things that I can get: really hope someone can help me out on this one. So yeah, daily progress posts on this, and I'm looking forward to the community helping me out on this one! |

I saw my girlfriend after school for the evening, which see seemed extremely happy about. Arranged to jam with my friend who's into Bombay Bicycle Club on Friday, he's a bassist that's actually semi-decent! Learnt Wonderwall on guitar which should be a pretty well-received song at the social gatherings I go to. I need to go cycling tomorrow and book yoga classes. |

Keep it going bro! As far as the French thing though, I would recommend the Michel Thomas course, IMO way better than Rosetta (I'm never a fan of Rosetta Stone though.) Self improvement is always a good thing, good luck with all this. |

Thanks Sparroww, I've ordered the Michel Thomas on your recommendation - cheers man As for my goals, my Forex account is now at £360 so I'm making good progress towards that goal. Calling my girlfriend more regularly now, and ordered some books on art as well as Fight Club on Blu-Ray to expand my cultural horizons. As for cycling, it's too dark to go out in the nearby woods and cycle in the evenings, so I may take up swimming instead for the winter. |
