Quick question on the best way to take a compliment. Girls will often compliment me on an article of clothing or an accessory and I want to know how to use that opportunity to do more than just thank them. How can I answer the compliment while being cocky funny? Examples include getting complimented on a nice bow-tie or a good smelling cologne. Thanks! |

A good cocky funny response I learned in the community somewhere along the line is "it's a routine compliment but I'll accept it." |

Thanks. I can see that being a good line. Anyone have any other good comebacks? |

Don't be a dick with that C&F shit when someone's giving you a compliment, man. There's a time and place for everything. If someone compliments you and you try to select "Cocky & Funny" in your inventory, I'm gonna Professor Oak that shit and fly over there and yell "NOW'S NOT THE TIME TO USE THAT." OK, well, Cocky/Funny might work well in that situation if you're highly calibrated, but it shouldn't be your go-to thing when you get a compliment. When you receive a compliment, she's giving you a GREAT opportunity to build a huge spiraling tower of positive feedback loops. In plain English, if you respond with a "thank you" and then RECIPROCATE a compliment, you'll build rapport and connection. Now let's get a little deeper with this Game shit. If you reciprocate a compliment while using either sexual frame or sexual state projection, you're seducing her from zero to sixty in no time. Example: Girl: Your cologne smells good! You: Thank you! And your hair looks really sexy today Girl: Oh, stop it *blush* You: Now it's my turn to smell you; it's only fair *lean in to smell her* holy shit you have got to stop turning me on so much. Girl: Can we have sex now? Obviously somewhat of an exaggeration in terms of how the girl would respond at the end, but you get the point. |

Honestly, I think when a girl is giving you a genuine compliment, that's a bad time to be cocky/funny or to say something that challenges her or feels like a "comeback". Examples include getting complimented on a nice bow-tie or a good smelling cologne. Thanks! If she tells you "I love your bowtie" say "thanks for noticing sweetie, come on in, you get a hug for that" and give her a big hug. Reward her for complimenting you. |

Quote: Are you sure ? I think it shows you can't take a compliment if you retort with one. (Caildini, Influence)
Well my style by default puts the focus more on the girl than myself so that's just my go-to strategy. Even if someone might get the impression that I can't take a compliment I'd wager the benefits would outweigh any negative effects that could have. But I concede that there might be more appropriate responses depending on the situation. For me at least, I'd take the rout of demonstrating security by confidently accepting the compliment non-nonchalantly. The routine you suggested is good but there's always another moment to escalate, not sure if this would be a great one. breedlove465's answer is great, for example, and might even be a better default move for a lot of people. |
