Good advice. Basics like nutrition and health ARE a great place to start. The "over-identifying" thing actually range pretty true for me. I'm just getting my swag back, and I realized that letting other peoples' emotions affect me is part of the problem. I'm with you. If someone knows how to empathize with someone who is in a really shitty place, without getting completely sucked in, let me know. (I don't think it's in me to be completely cold to the people I care about.) #1 is sort of the whole point. The original "cool" does have a certain coldness to it where you don't really give a shit what anybody thinks of you. (You can read stories about Miles Davis.) If you try to impress people, you usually get in your own way. You have a better shot at getting your swag back if you work on impressing yourself, and being completely fine if no one recognizes you as impressive. |
