My goto is "Who says I don't have a girlfriend" Look around sarcastically and sneakily then with a straight face say "Anyway, (short pause) thread change + compliance test. |

I was asked that question last weekend...I said something like "the 10 strippers I'm seeing keep me plenty busy". She knows I'm kidding, but keeps her off balance because she didn't get a straight answer either. She had already given me several IOI's, so maybe another option would have been "why, are you interested in the position?" Kind of like you are interviewing candidates....or maybe AFC because it gives her the opportunity to say no?? I've also read that something like "I'm considering my options" or "I'm keeping my options open" could be decent responses. |

Sorry we aren't taking applications at this time.- perfect in my mind but not field tested.

Another variation could be..."if you're interested in the position I'd be happy to review your credentials" or "consider your application"

I think it's best to reply with something outrageous which would make her laugh. You could say something flippant like "because my wife wouldn't like it" or - and this is one I have used with great results - "I'm still waiting for the zombie apocalypse so that I can meet a woman who's interested in my brains". This was a situational answer when I was attending ComicCon with some friends and started chatting up this cute girl who told me she was a fan of the Walking Dead series (great graphic novels by the way, look them up if you have any interest in intelligent post-apocalypse stories). |

just popped into my mind something as: "cause i was looking for a girl quite like you.. but now that I've met you it's kinda not what I thought" it's a bit roller coaster cause first she thinks you are into, and then you disapproves her. |

This is a very good principle. I am going to write up about 50 of them.
