Ok, when sitting at a table in a mixed set (say 3 guys 4 girls) what is the best way to be sitting? Example: Sitting back and still...Leaned forward and engaged in group...chin and head sticking out like a giraffe? or chin and neck upright and straight?

Some body language tips for this would be great.

sitting back and appearing relaxed conveys an alpha male personality.
so lay back, make people come close to talk to you, but dont be arrogant.
make them think you don't need them.
most importantly: appear relaxed.

Like anser said appear relaxed. I think that the key point is location. If you're at a noisy club it's hard to hear what anybodys saying if your head is like five feet away. Then again the format of the group can be a problem too. Sometimes you just gotta find the right angle between leaning forward and laying backward. Allways remember enough posture and relaxation.
Maybe a good way to open up that set is to engage convo with the closest member of the group, get that person to focus the sets attention to you and then work the set casual and laid back as usual. IOW get them to lean on you.
