Post subject:  Hookah Bar -- The Ultimate Instant Date!
This has worked so well and so reliably for me that I had to share it.

Hookah bars are popular enough these days that you can find one near-enough by in almost any city. I am convinced that these are one of the best places for an instant date of all time. Here's a short list of reasons why:

- Easy and low time commitment.
You don't need a reservation, and you have the potential to be in and out in an hour, but can still wind up hanging out all night. It's almost exactly the same as going for coffee as far logistics are concerned.

- "Special" environment.
Those places that are all Egyptian themed and shit are the best. They are tacky as hell but I'm beginning to believe that the environment is very much in your favor. If you're lounging on pillows and have Indian music videos playing in the background, there is very little "normal life" about this. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this makes it easier to other "out of the ordinary things." Like going home with you.

- "Shotgunning" as a kino routine.
Shotgunning is where you take a nice drag, lock lips with her, and breath out while she breathes in. Also called "the kiss of death" and intimate as hell. If you're in a group, get it started without involving her. Bring it up and how fun it is and either do it with someone else or just suggest that two other people in the group try it. Soon everyone's having fun with it and of course she wants in. Make sure that you tell her exactly how to place her lips. It really doesn't matter, just establishes you as the one in control. Also make sure to place a hand on the back of her neck. This it's a very sensual zone and you have the perfect excuse, you're just making sure her head's in the right position for everything to work.

I'd recommend not kissing her the first time. Basically, either she's ready for it at this point or not. If she is, you're just making her want it more by denying it, if she's not, touching your lips without doing anything more makes her feel hella safe. After that first one... You can almost always make it a kiss whenever you feel like. I like to either make it an innocent shotgun that turns into a lingering tug on the lips as it ends, or keep the lips still and add a little tongue (this is great because the other people can't tell anything's going on and now you and her have a dirty little secret. ;))

One of two ways. I'd never start by saying "hey, let's shotgun." That's almost like saying "hey, let's kiss" and if you're in a situation where that works then you don't need the hookah. :P

Instead I'll ask someone or everyone "have you ever shotgunned?" or do they know what it is etc. You explain what it is, and it always gets at least a couple people interested.

Then you either:

A: Pick out another couple in the group who obviously has some chemistry (if you've got that option) and suggest they do it. This makes it a group thing, usually everyone or almost everyone will want to try now, including your target. (If you have trouble getting more people in, mention how you and your friends would see how many people you could pass it down.)

B: Pick a girl who isn't my target but seems interested and offer to try it with her. How do I do that without the target getting jealous or mad? Why would i want to? :) Jealous is exactly what I want her to get. That way when it's "her turn" it's something she's been waiting to try, not something I'm trying to convince her to do.

It's a lot easier to pull off a shotgun if you start a shotgun train. Just arrange the group in guy, girl, guy, girl form and have one person take a big drag and try to shotgun it down the line to the last person. This way everyone gets involved. I've used this at many parties and it always works.

Plus, the fact that you're the one organizing it (telling everyone how to do it, where to sit, etc.) really makes you look alpha! :)

Charlatan, I am from Pittsburgh as well and I am ALWAYS at the hookah bars on Carson Street haha. Which one do you frequent the most?

Haha, sweet man. I actually live about 45min outside the city but will probably be moving to Lawrenceville in the fall.

My favorite is HKAN (unless it's saturday or whatever night they pack it full of dancing. XP)

But I think the Sphinx has more of that "out of the ordinary" vibe to it. Cheaper too. ;p

Yeah I live about 30 mins from the city but I always go down on weekends and randomly throughout the week. I've been to HKAN once and it was pretty cool but not very packed... It was a weekday though. I mostly go to Hookah Bookah with a few people on weekends... The crowd is usually good and mostly people from Pitt/Oakland or college students on break (which I am).

I find it much easier to close when I'm at a hookah bar with a quite relaxed environment than one with dancing and loud music
