| Post subject: | "we don't like American accents" - shit test |
Studying abroad in New Zealand, I'm at a bar, and two girls approach me. We say a few words then one says "oh you're American, we don't like American accents" fairly obvious teasing/shit test - but caught me totally off guard. I managed to flounder with some bullshit and change the topic, but I defiantly dropped the ball here. |

"Well that's really rude, what if I said I didn't like your face, how would you feel?" I like calling girls out on being rude and pretend that they got to me, it makes them drop all their defenses and really open up, the same works for AMOGs, I've gotten guys come up to me, wanting to beat me up and they end up apologizing to me! |

Ya sly i'm usually the funny guy about shit but i definitely love being able to make someone looking like an ass for being a hater. calling someone rude and being polite and mature about it is a nice key, but i am usually rude in my approach and everything i do so it doesnt always fit. it's easier when i am approached to do this. |

Maybe respond with a mini-neg in the form of: "That's nice but this accent is Canadian" |

Fun fact you can use: Most linguists agree that American spoken english (mainly people from the northeast) is the most plain sounding of all english speaking cultures. So if your american one might argue that it is the new zealanders who have the accent. Not you. Are they really ones to judge anyway? They sound like retarted australians. |

I'd actually stay away from this kind of thing. Loosing an argument isn't really a turn-on and you're more likely to come across as a prick than just display your higher value, especially since it's an obvious shit test. Are they really ones to judge anyway? They sound like retarted australians. I'd go for accusing them of prejudice or being rude, or maybe use something like this: SHE: "We don't like american accents." YOU: "And in a long term relationship that would be an issue. Luckily for you, I'm only here for a few nights." or, if you're feeling a bit bolder: "Luckily for you, you don't need to see me again after breakfast tomorrow." |
