Post subject:  House Party Help

I was at a family graduation party for one of my friends friends yesterday had no idea what to say to anyone. There were no women there to actually pick-up, mostly just the kid's family and friends. Since I was introduced to the people, approach and opening phases are eliminated from the equation, so I was under the impression to jump straight to mid-game. I placed myself in situations that surrounded me by people, but they mostly talked amongst themselves while I sat on the sidelines with absolutely no idea how to make myself more social with the people I just met. Any advice anyone can give about what to do or say in a future situation?

Just like ask people something like if they could pick any song to play at that very moment what could it be. I am guessing there was music at this party.

So pretty much a situational opener. It seems very socially awkward to open people you've been introduced to.

...why is that? They were introduced to you so you can get to know them. If you were back at the graduation party, a simple opener could have been:

"...so how did you meet (insert name)? Oh really? I remember when I first met him/her. We were on the playground at school in 3rd grade and..."

As far other house parties go, just throw yourself out there. Walk up to a girl and just talk. "Hey, how's it going? I'm (insert your name)". It's nothing elaborate, but do you know why they will converse with you? People go to parties to SOCIALIZE and MEET PEOPLE. That's how it is especially in college.
