I recently added this one girl on fb and since then ive been re-opening (with value of course) but then my responses would be very short, not one worded though. It seems like they would be shy but i'm not very sure.

Probably best to try get her out to meet up in real life, that way you should be able to make her feel relaxed and at ease in your presence, which should in turn help with the shyness and general rapport :) a bit of alcohol works a treat with shy folk.

She could think you're really creepy, or she may like you and is just a very shy person.

A good way to test is to see if she opens conversation with you. If not, she's not that interested.

Well, if you're getting one-word or short replies, it basically means that you are asking the questions which CAN be answered with short replies.

So, what's the solution?

Ask questions the need to answered with a bit more depth.

Here's a list of conversation topic that you can bring up in your talks which might ensure a good, flowing conversation between you both..

* There are very few topics deeper than music and musicians. Or cars, for that matter.

* Travel. Places you've been to, places she has been to, places you would like to go, places she would like to go. Why those places, why not any other?

* Things happening around the world right now. What might be the intentions behind people doing those things. Or the phenomenon which causes those things to happen.

* Spiritual questions, like "Is there life after death? Do you believe in that? Yes/No and why/why not" and such.

* About themselves, cause that's the favourite topic people want to talk about. Questions like "What is most important to you as a person?" and "What's one thing that you wish you could change in yourself" and why.

As a general rule follow a "Why not What" policy. I often tell people that "I am not as interested in the answer, as I am in knowing their reasons behind the answer" and that leads to quite a lot of new possibilities and opens a lot of threads for conversation.

Hope that answers your question well.

Regards,

Luke

Some people are not that easy to open.. And you need a little bit more time with them, and you have to hit the right subject. From my experience, even the most shy girl opens up at some topic and if you are a good "reader" of people, you quickly find some topic from which you build the conversation. But there are no uni-topics in my opinion..
Also don`t mistake if the girl is shy or you are just getting on to her nerves :P
