Practice what you are going to talk about before you get there. Come up with topics you can talk for a while about...things you are passionate about! Doing this helps ingrain it into your memory and this "canned" material approach is all your material but gives you something to fall back on if you don't have much to talk about in the moment. Another thing is you are going to get use to being in akward silences. It's something that takes a while. One way to aid this is if you have a friend. Literally sit inches away from each others faces and do it in silence without so much as cracking a smile. It feels weird but it's the same as the akward silence. Just build up a tolerance to it.
