So its general chitchat outside a bar, the conversation with the group is the same old stuff "where are you from etc..." Recently I've started opening completely random/absurd threads just to spark some life back into the situation.

Asking something like "what's your favourite flavour of sticker?" throws people off completely, usually guarantees a smile and opens up the conversation to lots of weird new routes. I enjoy this :) its like verbal peacoking in large groups, you certainly stand out from the crowd

I don't know where but I'm pretty sure I've read about this sort of stuff somewhere before, I'd love to hear your thoughts on these questions and would love any great examples of them.

I like to do the same thing. I absolutely HATE that whole "where are you from, what do you do" garbage. It reminds me of spending christmas with family members who I only see once a year and we have the same filler conversation every time.

When girls start asking me those questions, I always give them some ridiculous answers that they know can't possibly be true. That way, instead of them pretending to be interested, I MAKE it interesting and fun. The best part is, it builds comfort even though they haven't learned anything about me at all.

This questions work great. It is a form of comedy. Next time you watch a stand-up comedy watch how the comedian opens. He usually has some sort of one-liner or something word off the bat to get the audience laughing. What this does is plants a seed in the audience's mind "This guy is going to be funny". Then from there you can go about your normal game. If you enjoy doing these things then you are most likely a weird comedic type of a guy which is a good thing. It keeps people interested.

If you ask the same ole' boring questions it plants a seed in the mind "here we go again". If a comedian opened with "How did the chicken cross the road"... what would your first thought be... "This guy is going to be lame" that is hard to come back from. Dare to be different. It is human nature to be attracted to things that are diffrerent.

I have been trying to do the same thing recently. And if the girl isn't receptive? Just go try it on a girl that doesn't suck (figuratively of course).
