Post subject:  how to respond to "I don't like...."

Hi Guys,

I am obsessed with sailing and alway within the first few minutes of an interaction with a girl tell one of my many many sailing stories. The problem is I often get a response "I don't like boats!".

I guess this is because I haven't built enough attraction yet, and currently just continue on regardless but what do you guys think.

Is sailing just not a good topic for the first few minutes.

Thanks

forget them. If they aren't interested in you and sailing then why are you giving them your time. I'd guess you want someone you could sail with and enjoy a good day on the lake/bay/ocean/whatever. Next time they say that just say "nice getting to know you" and politely leave. There is nothing wrong with talking about sailing to women. Especially if it's a big part of your life. Mixing it up and starting with something else is good to though. Make sure you have more to talk about than just sailing.

If its a common occurrence, it is clearly something you are doing and not the girls your talking to. It may possibly be the way that your talking about your sailing stories, or it is that you are talking about it far too early into the interaction.

Personally I think its that you are talking about it far too early; meaning you will have not created enough rapport for the people you are talking about it with to identify or understand your enthusiasm towards the subject...

Thanks for the replies.

I think I need to focus less on sailing at the start. Difficult as it is a big part of my spare time.It doesn't kill the set but I don't really know how to deal with it. Other than pushing on. It is so predictable it would be nice to have a good come back.

I don't think I have know a girl who I haven't got out for a sail (and the occasional skinny dip) even if they were initially very anti, I just don't push it.
To be any use on my boat you really need to be about 100kg / 210lb not particularly attracted to girls in that bracket, but thats just me.

Thanks again for your replies its good to get other opinions.
