| Post subject: | End of Summer = Time to Move On |
I met this girl some time in April at one of my friends' dances. We hit it off well and have been hanging out throughout the whole summer. However, we have known for awhile that this relationship would not last in the long run because we are going to different colleges (about 4 hours away from each other). A long-distance relationship isn't preferable so I know it's going to end soon. Well, I'm going to college in town this friday and she is going a few days later. I just planned lunch with her for thursday, and it is likely that it will be the last time we hang out for awhile, if at all again. My question to you guys is how to proceed given two general options. But before I give you the options, I will say that we have a good relationship-- no red flags or anything -- and I would keep her around longer had the circumstances not have been so inconvenient. So the two route that I am considering are: 1) Not mention anything or bring up our relationship status. Let her bring it up if it concerns her. Allow things to play out naturally by moving on into college and gradually losing contact. 2) Make an "official" breakup. Where we talk about "us" and how it's time to move on. My goals here are to stay friendly and leave things open for the future, so I would prefer not to make things weird and dramatic which I think option 2 would do. What do you guys suggest? |

Option 3. Tell her the above directly. You're ready to try and wok through a LDR (got too much on your plate what with college starting), but you are open to getting together again in the future. BAM! Honestly, she's probably thinking right now, "How am I going to tell him this..."

He means MLTR. It stands for Multiple Long Term Relationship. In other words, you're officially this girl's boyfriend, but you're free to date other people, and even become another girl's official boyfriend at the same time. I wouldn't do it, though. Mixing that especially with a long distance relationship, it will simply put too much strain on you guys and will cause some problems. You look like you just want out for now, and can get back with her later. |

Sorry for the spelling Yeah. I guess that would be less troublesome. |
